If I'm going purely off the number of fish without considering size, a texas rigged trick worm in june bug hands down catches fish for me.  But the catches are smaller than using hard baits for the most part.

For me it's a 1/4 ounce, 3/0 wide gap shakey head.  Zoom Speed Worm, green pumpkin.  Works all year and is a fish catching machine. ~cf

This vibe speed worm seems to be popular. Anybody try to slow roll the thing 10-15 ft. down. I haven't had much luck with that but I don't give up easy.
Shakey head is the one for consistency around here but it's so slow it's hard to rack up numbers with one. Swim jig for numbers when it's on. Sometimes a nose rigged fluke will load them up.

My 2nd goto lure is the speed worm. Very versatile bait that covers the entire water column effectively. Secondary uses also include being an effective trailer for various lures.  :-*

We tend to fish shallow weedy lakes and rivers, that said, I would say a T-rigged soft stick bait in junebug-crime scene-or watermelon/gold sparkle will keep you busy depending on brightness and time of day.

Still looking for that lure!  Lol

I must say I've tried a ton of the lures suggested but my best producer over the best few months is gonna surprise you guys!

I've come to realize 95% of the lakes I fish are muck bottoms with 1-6 feet of muck and hydrilla so most bottom contact baits pull a houdini on me. The worst is with texas rigs, its a little missile! But don't worry the zoom speed worms and soft plastics you guys suggested I bought still get used. ;)

So I've been trying out moving baits for the most part and a green pumpkin orginial Z-man chatter with a green pumpkin or K's magic keitech gets me atleast 10+ fish a day. I've tried the project Z's and jack hammers but I dont catch as many fish. I think its the shiny blade. But don't get me started on the amount of pike I've gotten... I've probably pulled in 1/4 as many pike as I have bass this year. I now keep cut proof gloves in my tackle box at all times...

Thanks everyone!

If I had to pick one it would be a 4" Senko type stick bait.  I have caught fish in NY, NJ, Ohio, Georgia, NC, and my home state Florida.  You can fish it deep, shallow, fast, slow, or wacky.  A fish catching little bait.  Color, cloudy days and muddy water, Junebug.  Clear water, watermelon red, green pumpkin.
(Fish) - P/B 11.4, Everglades, L67, L28, Little 67, Alligator Alley, Sawgrass, Holey Land, Loxahatchee, Ida, Osbourne, Okeechobee, Weston Lakes. Broward and Dade Canals.

Mine would be a plastic worm.  Can fish it on top.  Add a little shot and fish it under water.  Texas or C-rig etc for the bottom.     ~sun
