Racking a semi auto handgun

I believe most shooters rack a handgun by pushing their hands together in traditional fashion. This can require a lot of hand strength. Those with arthritis may find it easier to rack a weapon using their chest muscles. Hold the weapon chest high with one hand on the grip and the other on the slide. Squeeze the chest muscles together until the weapon racks. Let the large muscles do the work and save your hands some agony.

That's a great technique. I use it often. The easiest way to rack a slide, IMO, is to use the rear sight as a ledge and rack it off of a table, shelf, sturdy belt, etc. Having said that, one needs metal sights (generally speaking) with a big enough ledge to catch on whatever one would choose to rack the slide, no cares about a scratch etc. on the slide or object one decides to rack the firearm on etc.
