Bonneville Pool and Dalles Pool go to catch-and-release fishing for white sturgeon

Action: Anglers fishing the Bonneville Pool and the Dalles Pool must release all sturgeon.

Effective dates and locations:
1.Bonneville Pool (from Bonneville Dam to The Dalles Dam): effective Feb. 14 through April 30, 2020.
2.The Dalles Pool (from The Dalles Dam to John Day Dam): effective Feb. 18 through April 30, 2020.

Species affected: White sturgeon.

Reason for action: At current rates, the harvest guidelines for the areas listed is expected to be met. Non-retention measures are necessary in order to avoid exceeding the catch guidelines in these areas.

Additional information: Catch-and-release fishing for sturgeon will continue to be allowed. These measures were implemented to help ensure the long-term viability of the population.
