would a prop change raise my top end speed?

i have a 2001 Mercury 50hp 2-stroke.  I was wondering if a prop change would give me a few more miles per hour.  if anyone has this motor i would like to know about their set ups.  thanks!

It would be most helpful to know what you are currently running for a prop on your boat now before any specific recommendation can be made.

Now, depending upon what your boat is propped with, you "might" be able to pick up a mile per hour or two more.  But, you're talking about a 50 hp outboard, not exactly known for its high performance.

If your boat is having a hard time getting on plane, or you're over-revving/lugging the motor, then re-propping will make sense.

But otherwise, if the boat is performing adequately, don't expect a huge increase in speed....
