New to the boards here and my first post will be on best rod choice for me.
I do a lot of pitching/flipping in the cattails and Kissimmee grass and Hydrilla here in Florida where accuracy, sensitivity, and power is a must have to snatch these hogs out of cover. Normally using 3/4 to 2 oz. weighted plastics. I am undecided between the DX746 or Dx795 in the Extreme series. Seems like the 746 though a lot of power would be easier to pitch/flip but is not a true flipping rod and may not "load" up the same as the 795 and be to much of a broomstick feel. What is the expert advice here? I don't have a retailer around here to check the rods out so I am looking for advice. Thanks, looking forward to your answers.

Welcome to Ultimate Bass and be sure to check out them links I sent you. I don't own either one of these rods so I can't help you but there are plenty of folks around here that will be able to help answer your question. Gary stops by from time to time and I know he will be able to answer your question. Also I see your from Florida so for sure stop by here and introduce yourself to some of the members who fish the same kind of stuff your talking about. FL CHAT I'm sure some of them use these rods already. Thanks again for joining us here at Ultimate Bass.

For both pitching and flipping my choice would be the 746 if I could only have one. It will feel stiff in your hand until you use it with the weights you are talking about.

I have never used the 795 extreme but i have used the champ 795 flip.

It will haul a big sow out of 20 pounds of grass.  Had a 1.5 ounce tungsten with a DBomb so not quite 2 ounces.

no experience with the 746.

Damn Zippy I'm always agreeing with him :)  The 746 will feel very stiff but doesn't fish that way. Truthfully, we have about a 50/50 percentage of guys using the 795 Flip and 746C. They'll both work. The 746C might be a tiny bit easier pitching. But, I'll have a bunch of guys disagree with that comment. My son Richard will only use 795 and loves it,  Larry Nixon will only use 746C. Both are awesome fishermen and this is the debate on these 2 models. Me?? I use Champ 766 Flip for all my pitching and Flippin so I'm not a lot of help :):) There's no really right rod answer here. THX guys!!!
