Well I decided to abandon the stand up paddle board idea for fishing so I'm looking to buy a kayak. I'm in research phase now. Definitely less than $800, preferably less than $600. Probably not buying until black friday so hope to get a good deal. In terms of use, it will be mostly lake and reservoirs in the area. No real water movement  and the max engine is 10hp so no wake issues. Will do some recreational paddling too. My in-laws are buying a house on the delaware bay so I see myself taking it out in sheltered areas some, but no ocean use.

For the price, the ascend 10T and 12T look like solid options. I've also been looking at Vibe and a couple other brands. I like the idea of a 10' for loading and carrying but I know with the width it may not be the best to paddle, so I'm torn. I have a trailer that I will be using for transport so that's not a huge concern. I'm 5'8" 165 pounds and do plan to stand and fish some. Open to suggestions. There are a lot of brands out there that I'm sure I've never heard of.

I have been researching fishing kayaks for a while now myself, I just havent been able to get my hands on one yet. The one I would ultimately want is th Nucanoe Flint but it goes for around a grand.
The kayaks I lean towards in your price range and this is just my opinion after watching and reading alot of reviews are...

Vibe yellowfin or sea ghost if you can catch a good sale
3 waters big fish 105
perception pescador pro
pelican the catch

If you have a shop close by sometimes they do demos and that is a real good way to find a kayak that fits you well. You should start to see a lot of end of season sales starting.
Kayak fishing looks to be a blast and I hope to be out there one day myself.

They are definitely a lot of fun. I have owned kayaks in the past. The last one that I owned I sold about 10 years ago. That was a dagger Blackwater but was more of a traditional recreational sit in kayak, though I did fish from it on occasion.

Check out the ones that Academy Sports sells.

They have one made by Pelican that I have been looking at myself. Has the traditional front end, but more of a Pontoon rear end in that it becomes a Tunnel Hull looking design.

Made to be able to Stand and Fish with an area with anti skid pads on the floor just for that. Looks like a very comfortable seat too.

It's within your price range too.

I think I found the one you are referring to. I'll have to see if I can find it locally. Academy doesn't exist around this area.
