Good morning from Central Texas  :)

Clear skies with the forecasted temps of 73 / 93dgrs with 81% humidity across our area today.  It looking like its going to be a good day here.

It was an easy day yesterday at work.  I cleaned out and reorganized my file cabinet and did a couple service orders.   I went and bought pizza for lunch a couple ladies brought in salads and it was all good.

The weather was really nice yesterday I came home hooked up the G3 and headed over to Nolan Lake.
I fished from 4pm - 7:30pm it was a tough bite but I managed to put (3) in the boat.  I'm going to do a fishing report in Catch of Day here shortly.  But here's the pictures of the (3) I boated.

Rodney; Enjoy the day at Hots On the Deck  :food  ~beer~  Glad to hear you made it out onto the water.  Yes sir I concur with it time for fishing  ;)

Bud; Glad to hear your health is good.  We'll keep the wife in our daily prayers and we all pray she has more better days than not.  So when do the contractors show up and install that new flooring :-\  You going to have to move the furniture yourself or are the contractors going to do that for ya?  Turtles hatching I bet that is a sight to see hundreds of little ones running towards the water.

SHC; You have an interesting job to say the least.  Did you ever get any additional crew members?

Alrighty you all have a pleasant day today.

Donald, Contractor will move the furniture but we have to unhook and unplug the electronic stuff.  Most likely I will take the drawers out of the dresser drawers and the side table drawers.  I plan on staging this stuff in the kitchen while the work is going on.  Don't know yet when the install is set since we have just decided on what we wanted.  As far as I know they might have to order some stuff.   I will probably have to tranquilizer dart the Mrs. during this process just to keep her out of the way. (she likes to constantly inspect the work)  She already is speculating about things that could go wrong.

A nice quiet Sunday here at the beach.  Picking up the boat from storage tomorrow and bring it home to get ready for some fishing on Tuesday and maybe Wednesday too.  After Wednesday the hot weather is supposed to return.  It has been nice with slightly cooler weather this past week.

The part for my trimmer finally arrived and was able to catch up on some trimming today and will probably do a bit more sometime this afternoon.  Flooring people arrive tomorrow for some measurements so we can get a quote for some carpet and wood flooring.  I hope this will be over soon.

The Mrs is ranting something about a new sofa but I am doing my best to ignore the conversation but I suppose resistance is futile when it comes to stuff like this.

The expedition needs an oil change this week and I want to get that done before I drop it off at the detailer on Thursday.  Don't you just hate it when the schedule has too many things going on ?

Donald Garner

Good afternoon to all,

It's a beautiful day across Central Texas today we have some scattered clouds and sunny skies.  Our forecasted temps for the area are 74 / 92dgrs with 52% humidity.   The upcoming week is looking pretty good also.

Nothing planned for today except relaxation.  We attended church this morning and had lunch at our favorite Mexican Restaurant.

We're all done cleaning the school and the exterior areas of the bldg.  Tomorrow most of the teachers will be coming in and setting up their classrooms.   It won't be long till school be starting back up on the 19th of Aug.

Bud; Good luck with the contractors coming in and getting the flooring all done.  I was gone when my wife had hard wood floors installed.  I look around and try to figure out where all the furniture went while the floors were installed.  I'm glad I wasn't here when all these home improvements were done.
So when are you taking the wife shopping for that new sofa :-\  You and the wife have a good trip out on the river this coming week.

To everyone hope your weekend has been a pleasant and relaxing one for ya.  You all enjoy the rest of the day and the time with your families.

Afternoon all!!! 71 when I got up, sunny, 80 now and all clouds, windy, possible rian or boomers a bit later. Mass early then home for b'fast and a nap. Doing sausage and veggies on the grill. Tomorrow we're heading to Henderson up near the Thousand Islands for a couple of days, R & R for the wife, not taking the boat we're just hanging out and will see some of the sites. It's a historic area with a lot of sites from the War of 1812 and the Revolution.
Bud, how long is this project going to take, a day or 2 or longer? Hope everything goes according to plan for Mrs. Buds sake, and by extension yours.
Donald, always good to be catching, that last fish is a nice one congrats!!! Are you going to be able to get more fishing time?
I posted the "One Rod Challenge Part Deux" the was reminded to put up some pics, they're up. I never got in the habit of taking pics of the fish I catch, just don't think about it when I'm catching, I'm going to try to rectify that, we'll see.

Rodney, once the process begins to install it will only be a couple of days.  Fairly quick in most cases.  Getting the rooms cleared out and then put back together is the worst part of the deal.  The contractor will move some stuff but some stuff is ours to get out of the way. No big deal but I am sure that I will have to tranquilizer dart the Mrs. at sometime during the process.

Oldfart9999

Good morning UBers!!! 69 headed to mid/upper 80s, no rain yesterday and it looks the same for today, going south of us. Well we head north for a couple of days, my niece has a trailer at Henderson near the Thousand Islands, we're not taking the boat, just be touristing. This is the last of my wife's vacation and she deserves a rest after taking care of me for my joint problems.
Bud, a couple of days doesn't sound too bad, maybe they can get it done before you have to get the trank gun out. Hope you can hit the river this week, that should calm her down.
SHC, Stren, and crew, anybody fishing or chasing gators? How you all be?
Donald, do you start helping the teachers set up their class rooms now? Any plans on getting on the water soon? I'll probably be able to hit the water Friday, my home waters, Irondiqouit Bay hopefully. I haven't been able to launch at the club all year because of the flooding, Ontario is still flooded but it's dropping and it's down enough to let me float my boat. 3 feet above normal doesn't sound like much but in a great lake it's an aweful lot of water.
Have a great day, be well!!!

Rodney, this is household grease in a residential neighborhood! Folks here fry everything! Of course, so do I, we feasted on fried pork chops all weekend! But we use an air fryer these days.

All restaurants do have grease traps, I thiiks it's part of their building code these days. I actually get less grease from the restaurants than I do from the homes I serve. I believe there are two ways for the restaurants to clean their traps: have it pumped out by a septic service, or they can add an enzyme that eats it up. The enzyme would be cheaper.

Boat is on the charger for our visit to the river in the morning.  Doc Irv will be the co pilot on this trip by providing the senko type baits for the day.  Launch time will be on the incoming tide so we will be able to get into some of the cuts this time.  We are planning to fish from first light until about 10 AM or maybe 9AM depending upon the temperature.  We also are planning on fishing Wednesday for a couple hours it it works out that way.  Road construction still ongoing on the way to the ramp so we will see.

Stren_g

Happy Monday afternoon UB, been busy lately. I did get out for a couple of hours Sunday. I caught a few bass and had some very entertaining pike blow ups. They were absolutely killing a frog, but not eating it. They were coming from several yards away to slam this thing! I mean knock it into the air a few feet, but I never had one actually eat it.
Bud good luck to ya'll!!!
Rodney ya'll have a good time up there!
Don about your boat, I was just wondering how it works for you? Likes/dislikes and the such... I've been tossing the idea of a small boat around for when I want to take others with me.

Greetings from Belton, Texas  :)

Another somewhat sunny day here across Central Texas  ~sun  Our forecasted temps for today were 75/97%.  We had 40% humidity and with the Heat Index it feels like 101dgrs  ~sweat :surrender:

Bud; You and the wife have a enjoyable trip out on the river in the morning.

SHC; I watch a septic driver pump out our tanks at school last month.  The cafeteria has a huge one out behind its bldg.

Rodney; You and the wife enjoy that road trip.  My wife mentioned about us traveling to the New England area next fall.  I've always wanted to see that part of our country.  Its on a Bucket List though.

If the teacher asks for assistance in setting up her / his classroom we'll help.  If they don't ask we don't volunteer.  I'm planning on getting the Stratos wet maybe this coming weekend.  It hasn't been in the water since May.  Most of all the boat ramps are open on our big lakes now.

Stren; I shoot you a PM reference my G3.

To everyone have a great day tomorrow.  Tight lines if your out on the water also.

Donald, FYI the leaf peeper season in New England is very busy.  You want to be sure you have booked your lodging ahead of time.  Hotels through New England are very busy and reservations are always a must have.  We have wanted to do the same trip also just to see some of our old favorite places during the time we lived there.  Just a wonderful road trip especially when the leaves have changed color.

A trip from the Pocono area of Pennsylvania thru Lake country of New York and then on to Mass, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine is all in play for great places to see the sights.  We particularly enjoy small new england towns and villages.  The folks are friendly and it is a bit of a trip back in time.

I'm at the laundry mat taking care of the washing, and I'm suddenly hit with an irresistable craving for some popcorn shrimp.

Really? How the heck am I suddenly craving something I know is going to make me sick as a dog?

Donald, great time of the year for top water smallmouth on Winnipessaukee.  Plenty of guides up there as well.  We used to slay them using woodchopper style baits.  Fall was always the best time with all the colors of the leaves the cool mornings and days  just did not get any better than that.  Great lodging available also in that area right on the lake.  Caught many a smallmouth in the 3-5 lb range on that lake.  At least a guide will provide equipment so you don't have to deal with the no lead policy of New Hampshire.

Oldfart9999

Good morning from the bustling metropolis of Woodville NY in the middle of nowhere!!! Actually it's nice and quiet. Because of her job as a traveling nurse my niece bought a "camping" trailer, used of course, in this campsite, she thought it would be better than motel rooms, it's centerly located and she can cook her own meals and such in comfort. The cost is a bit less or about the same. From home we came up route 104 to route 3,found of following Lake Ontario's shoreline. As you get closer to Oswego you start seeing more and more marinas with charter type boats. Trout and salmon along with smallmouth fishing are big here, hope in your 25_30 foot boat, head out onto the lake, set up your downriggers or planer boards and pop open a door beer, ask Zippyduck about that, I just couldn't get excited about it, not my deal. I will say most of the charter captains I've met always seem Ed very nice and enjoyed what they were doing.
Bud, hope you and the Mrs. get into some good fish!!!
Stren, like can be fun, at least they weren't biting you off, that could get expensive.
SHC, don't know what to say about the cravings, I don't think you're pregnant. Brother, you really need to pack up Connie and go fishing!!!
Donald, Bud gave you some great advice about leaf peeping New England down through NY, I'd start in Maine and follow the color south, if you catch it right it can be a very beautiful trip and journey. Spending part of a day in some small towns can be very enjoyable also.
Hope you get the Stratos wet!!!
Have a great day, be well!!!

I'm back, and in one piece. Think I'd rather be back in the middle east than Ft Stewart GA in summer... Over 12% of the Battalion had heat casualties (only 1% was full heat stroke, rest was heat exhaustion). No breeze and heat indexes over 110° equals no fun for anyone. BUT we got the runway built.

Mornin UB, not much for excitement today. Waiting for Sunday as that's my only day off for the week.
Then next week we're taking the family to Mount Rushmore, and a few old mining towns. It should be a fun time.
Top welcome back and Thanks for your service.
Rodney, at this particular lake the resident pike have a stash of spinnerbaits and swimjigs that once belonged to me. I keep going back because there are large for my area bass there as well.
Don thanks for the PM, maybe next year I'll spring for a small aluminum boat!

Howdy from Belton, Texas  8)

Its been a sunny day most of the day here across Central Texas  ~sun  We got a few scattered clouds roaming around.  We have a chance for some scattered thunder storm sometime during the night.  We could use some rain to cool things down some.  Our forecasted temp were 74 / 88dgrs with 53% humidity.

Not so busy day at work today.  Tomorrow morning we have to move (4) classrooms of furniture.  The 6th grade teachers got the principals ear and next email I got was to move (4) rooms of furniture.  So we'll get that knocked out first thing in the morning.  We're expecting a shipment of 1,100 iPads to show up at 9am.  We'll assist with getting that down loaded.  After that it should be a quiet day.

Stren; Enjoy that trip to Mount Rushmore.  We made that stop back in the Summer of 1994 on our way down from Alaska to Ft. Bliss, Texas.  Its pretty interesting and its some beautiful country for sure.  Good luck on getting that boat when its time.  There's lots of them out there for sure.

Top; Welcome Home Brother  ~shade  For sure that Middle East weather / Heat is different than what's in Georgia.  I remember after I got back home to Texas.  I was taking 2-3 showers a day and changing clothes that often also.  My wife though there was something wrong with me  lo  I'm not a big fan of humid weather but I'd rather deal with than the cold  ;)

Rodney; Glad you made it safely to your nieces place.  Enjoy the time with the family.  I don't know when that New England trip will take place but we've talked about it now a couple times.

Guys you all have a relaxing and pleasant evening.  Be safe in your travels too.

Finally got some good help!
Fella about 3-4 years or so older than me, has worked here before, has dealt with all the problems I've got right now, self starter, doesn't need to be told what to do, he only asks what do I need him to do first.
This is a good thing.

Took the boat back to storage for a few days.  Just to darn hot to do any fishing and I am not a real fan of getting up at 4:30 to go fishing.  Stopped at Home depot picked up some florescent tubes for the kitchen light fixture and went hoe and installed them.  So that little honey do is complete.

Tomorrow I have to take the Expedition to the detail shop for a make over both exterior and interior.  It really needs it bad.  Be a few years since I have had that done.  Even at 12 years old the truck still looks fairly good.  I still have to empty her out this afternoon.  Amazing how much stuff one can keep in a vehicle.  Drop off time is 8AM with a probable pick up at 3PM.  Next step for the Expedition is to have the front seats fixed where it is coming apart at the seams in a couple places.  Probably also need to consider a new set of tires before too much longer.  I got about 50K miles on my current tires and they are showing a bit of wear. Spending money on an old truck is certainly cheaper than buying a new one.

The week ahead is going to be continued hot and humid and now the August ramp up to hurricane season is underway so we have to keep our eye on that until November.

Bud Kennedy

Finally got the flooring under contract to replace the floor coverings in the Living Room (Carpet) and in the Master Bedroom  (Laminate wood)  Quote is within reason and just slightly over what I had estimated.  Next will be the installation not sure yet when that is  going to happen.

Next phase is to have the kitchen cabinets painted.  We were gonna have them refaced but that cost was over $5k and painting will be about $1K - $1.5K.  I believe that should do it for a while.  The Mrs has other painting wants but that will fall into my responsibility I guess.  We still have other wants but will have to wait until the money tree comes into bloom.  I am going to hold back some money just because Mrs. Bud is making some noises about a few pieces of new furniture.  I don't think we need them but she does so I guess that is what it will be.  As I keep saying resistance is futile.

Donald Garner

Good evening to all,

Whew its smoking here today across Central Texas  :surrender:  Our forecasted temps were 77 / 98dgrs with 37% humidity.  With the heat index it's a 103dgrs  ~sweat

Busy morning we had to move 3 classrooms of furniture around so all of the same 6th grade subject teachers could be together.  That took all of 30minutes  ~shade    After that I piddled around for the rest of the day.  My team worked in their individual areas.  Tomorrow I'm setting up the Big Gym for registration that begins next week.

Today is my grandson's birthday he is now 3yrs old.  Time is sure flying by.  My granddaughter will be 6yrs old day after tomorrow and starting kindergarten at the end of the month.   They sure are growing up quick  ~shade

Bud; Sounds like you're fixing to be busy moving furniture and checking up on those contractors.    I hope the weather breaks for you soon.  I'm with you I don't like getting up at 4:30 to go fishing anymore either.  I hear ya about spending money on an old vehicle is cheaper.
I really miss my GMC pickup.  I had just spend $$$ on brakes and some other issues it was having.  I had 150,000 miles on it and it ran really good.  It needed a paint job but it was a sound running vehicle till that woman ran into me and totaled it  ~rant

SHC; Good deal glad to hear you finally got some help there  ~c~

To everyone have a relaxing evening.  I hope tomorrow is a better day for everyone.
