Met up with FloGrown (FG) around 7:30, and made a run out West on L67. I haven't fished out of Holiday for close to 15 years, and it felt good being out there. We fished L67 for a while, and I managed to get only one bite, the bass was nothing to brag about. ;)

With no signs of life or activity, I decided to run into the Miami Canal. Wind was at our backs which helped push us North. FG was connecting with bass here and there flipping his jig, and I struggled for a while.

As the morning pressed on, the bite was non-existent for the two of us. Boats were leaving, but FG and I pressed on. We knew the bass bite would "turn on" eventually.

Close to noon, we took a break and re-evaluated our situation. We understood in order to get bites we just had to cover ALOT of water and cast ALOT, so we went to work. From 12:30 to 4:30, we fished an assortment of baits. We connected with using a couple of baits more than others, but there wasn't a definitive pattern. I made up my mind and began doing what I call a "frog sweep". Similar to the game minesweeper. I cast my frog into every nook and cranny, I could see. Exhausting, but it worked, I was catching bass. No Holiday Park Hawgs by any stretch of the imagination, but fortunately I was locating bass. FG was successful locating bass as well, but he can fill you guys with that information.

By 4:30 pm we were beat to crap, looked at the fish counter and was surprised to see we had boated 40 bass. @ FG, I had a good time fishing with you again bud.  We had to work for our bass, but we made it happen!!  ~beer~ @ Backlash, in case you read this report, it was pleasure meeting you, thank you for walking up to me and introducing yourself. Your boat and truck rocks dude!!  ~c~

Thank you for reading!!  ~beer~

Thanks for the invite Lou!!! Had a blast!!! Alot of laughs!!!Like Lou said say we threw a variety of baits at them I was having some luck with a jig,ol monster worm, mag vibe buzzing it thru the pads and a spinnerbait, it was a funny day we caught 40 but there was no consistent pattern  we casted alot and covered ALOT of water, we didn't even eat and barely drank,we were in warrior mode,we were so determined to get fish and we did but we earned every one if them. Great to be at holiday park been a long time since I been there it's an amazing fishery with ALOT of opportunities. Thanks for reading!

Wow, 7:40 - 4:00 is a punishing day.  Way to stick it out and catch some fish.  Lou did you go out west of the Miami River on the big canal?  That's where the big cuts are, spent many days out in the three pines area.  Going out again this weekend, you two must be on a mission?

Thanks for the report guys! ~c~ ~c~ ~c~

You guys are hard core. I'm not into no eating or drinking. I'd start to get hangry and then pass out! Glad holiday park treated you well. That's another one of my old stomping grounds. Cool place!

Thank you Flats. I recognize I can be hard core, at times, when I fish. Hydration is critical, especially as summer is quickly approaching. Food? Meh... that just slows me down.  lo lo

Hey Lou, great seeing you out there.  As you can see I'm not that active on this board, but I might just have to pay closer attention to this.  It was great meeting you and FLOGROWN out there.  I fished the main canal towards the alley, did very well there in the last tournament (17+ lbs), I lost a really nice one that evening 5-6lbs.  Struggled in the tournament that weekend, ended up fishing the alley, the miami canal, and some of L67.  Haven't been out since, will probably start fishing the alley at night now.  If you haven't done that, let me know, it's different to say the least, usually takes 20+lbs to win a night tournament.
