I decided that with the new reel purchase (since Lou took my Scorpion MGL) I needed a new rod for it.  However, it didnt exactly pan out the way I was planning. See, this rod was to be for the new reel, but I didnt realize this rod had a totally exposed reel seat. So, these seats are great for reels that have a bigger profile as it helps to get the rod and reel in the hand better. So after trying to mount my 14Scorpion on the rod to test it, it just felt wrong. Since the 97Metanium fits nicely on the Crucial rod I have with its exposed reel seat, I decided that the Calcutta200GTB was a good possibility, and I was right. I tied up a big soft plastic swimbait and got to heaving it today. It was a nice change for the setup in a whole. Feels soo much better in hand now, and it's making tossing them baits even more fun. So what began as a small disappointment with the rod, ended up a blessing in disguise to a perfect match.

The tip on this thing is really nice, and loads up the swimbaits nicely. The baits in total are around 1/2-3/4oz. There is plenty of backbone in this rod, and sensitivity is really nice. I only know a fraction of the sensitivity due to smaller fish pecks, and bigger fish swats. Had a few big bass follow the swimbaits, but no commitment. Oh well, theres always another day.

The things I like about the rod are the weight, and overall handling. Cosmetics are really nice too. Not too over done, but not lacking like many other plain rods. Eye alignment is spot on, and plenty of them to keep things straight. The carbon reel seat components are a nice touch, and the foam/cork handle is comfortable. Hopefully I can get some on the water handling with some bass on the line soon with it to see what it's got.

You are only saved because of the replacement reel that is coming my way. Lol. Hopefully it does better pitching baits than the 14SCORPION did. That thing dont like to spin a spool slow. Lol. The new reel has a line guide that is closer to the spool, which is better for closer and slower pitching.
