Some have called Lake Arthur the dead sea, many say that its only good for hybrids.

I had a great year on Lake Arthur last year. Many days I caught ten bass or more and caught three of my biggest bass there last year. It was very simple to follow the fish through the seasons.
I started in February and found fish really shallow in the pad stems. They then moved out to secondary points for a while and moved back into the pads in late April for the spawn.

After the Spawn some of the fish stayed in the pads till fall and the rest could be found in the main lake chasing the alewife.

Fall had them in the backs of the bays chasing shad.

And winter, Well it brought us ice.

My best baits were,

Early spring soft swimbaits and jigs.

Spawn T-rigs and senkos.

Post spawn spinnerbaits, topwaters, jigs, and t-rigs.

Summer Frogs and flipping

Fall swimbaits, spinnerbaits, and topwaters.

I hope this helps you find Lake Arthurs potential.

Zippy - need my bass fix and i enjoyed reading your post. I have a pedal drive yak - when you say the pads in April, where about a is that? What's the closest boat ramp to it?
All this rain coming, i was thinking of heading out Sunday.

Appreciate any info. Still learning the lake.

One of my favorite launches is the old 422 launch. From there head straight across to the first two coves. I would focus near the points this time of year.

The other area is the Northern area of Muddy creek fish the grass out in the middle it always holds some fish.

Or go back to Shannons bay but be prepared for heavy weed fishing there. It is my favorite bay.

@zippy - have you been out on the lake recently?  Planning to hit it in the morning for Largemouths.
Any areas I should focus on?

I am familiar with fishing around the Mcdanels Ramp cove and around the DAM area.  I've done well around that island thats near the dam - should I focus more towards the lilly's near muddy creek? I've never fished around that area so it will be new

If I went today I would go into Porters cove and fish the weedlines adjacent to the Lily pads. fish the hard bottom areas.

Hey Zippy - It was a raining miserable morning Saturday  ~rain until about 11am and this happened caught the big one ~cf.  Caught a bunch of smaller ones way up in the lilly's on cranks. Chatter bait with a frog look also did well.

Water temp was 64deg

Thanks again - looking forward to learning more about he lake.

Sweet! Looks like you fished exactly where I would have.

If you could make a separate report on the lake conditions and success it would be appreciated.
