Headed out on the water by 6. Ran North a bit as the wind was to come out of the South, I was gonna let the wind carry me. The water gates were open and the current was running South. I started ducking into the fingers, and there were lots of gar after the openings. Half way down the fingers seemed to be key, although I caught a few as well in the main canal. Nothing really massive, but about 20 fish in 4 hours. Called it an early day.

WTG Matt. At least you got out there and pounded the banks, and caught some.  The site has been quiet lately.  Thanks for the report! ~c~

Another monsoon rain today, and almost everyday.  It seems the rainy season is here and the glades are going up.  You know what is next.  Finding current and cleaner water will be key.

Flats.

From Holiday park there is a narrow opening to the flats.  Under similar conditions from what you got now, I got in there easily and almost couldn't get out because of a heavy flow in.  Trolling motor couldn't get me out, but I have a push pole in my rod locker.  I had to stay on the TM motor while my back seater poled out.  I learned a valuable lesson that day.  Don't go through a funnel point with current flowing in!
