worried about my new ultrex

We installed my new Ultrex yesterday. What I am worried about is the head and shaft wiggle around if you try and rock it. I dont mean that I can turn it left or right by hand. I mean if you were to be on the water and there are waves the head and shaft would wiggle. Am I worried for no reason? Is that normal for a power steering motor? Please let me know. I bought it Friday at Bass Pro so I need to decide if I want to take it back.

Did you tighten the allen head bolt when you attached the motor to the bracket? Sounds like it's loose or not installed. That's all that holds the two pieces together.

I think Jim is onto the cause, check all the nuts and bolts to be sure they're tight. If not I would contact Minn Kota and tell them your concerns.

I will check all of the allen screws but I do't think that is the cause. I mean, if there are any small waves the trolling motor rock and makes noise.

I have to tighten the allen screw all the time. But that is exactly what causes that issue.

This is the only one I can think of that could be the problem. That and the gas spring pin are the only two that have to be installed by the installer.  The gas spring pin screws on mine had thread locker on them. I put thread lock on the Allen head cap screw as well.

Nothing has gotten loose.

One key thing about that bolt. It's the plastic lockwasher under it. Yes, it's plastic. I nearly discarded it thinking it was just part of the shipping stuff because it was on the hex bolt that get removed and discarded.
