How many of you guys are having issues with your Ultrex 36 Volt motors?
Mine is new this spring and at times I can not not shut the damn thing off (better than not running all I guess).
It keeps right on running as if the constant run switch was on.  If I shut the main off/on "rocker" switch off it will stop but come right back on when I turn that switch back on.  The spot-lock will not engage at this time as well and that I know that is normal if the momentary foot switch is deployed.

Also, unrelated to this non stop running issue, is, the steering will fail on occasions.  Sometimes, pressing heel down the steering won't respond.......just a hard pedal.   If I go toe first, then heel, it will steer normally for.....who knows how long before it fails again.
Both of these problems are becoming more and more frequent.

I have contacted Minn-Kota and my dealer but I thought I'd run it up your tree too for further proof for argument sake should I need it.

No, that is not normal.  I have the 24v, but the behavior should be the same.  Spot lock will kick off if any other button is pressed.  Motor should only run if the constant button is pressed or the momentary button is pressed.

I rarely use the foot pedal, but when I do, it has full range of motion and will only run when I press the momentary or constant button.

It's got a 3 year warranty, so get it to the ASC and let them fix it, so it behaves like it's supposed to.

I dont have an ULTREX, but Minn Kota and Humminbird customer service has been top notch when I've had issues with Talons and other products. Recommend calling them and explaining your issues.

I have the Ultrex 80 iPilot  Link. I've accidentally activated Autopilot on more than a couple of attentions. I've done it both by hitting the Autopilot switch on the pedal and by hitting the screen or button on the remote. I've gotten much better at not doing it once I realized what I was doing.

Have you tried using the remote control to overwrite the problems you have mentioned?

Remote;  Yes, one of the first things I tried.
I even disconnected the entire power source for a few minutes.
I think it's just another one of these high-tech electronic problems that seems to plague nearly everything now days.    Too many things today are designed by some very intelligent engineer who do not take into consideration of the "real-world" use......if ya catch my drift.

Have you updated the software on the Ultrex since you got it?   This cures a lot of oddities, but maybe not what you are experiencing.  I would update that motor and see what the new software fixes.

Hey thanks for the tip on the up-date, I wasn't aware there was such a thing.......too busy fishing I guess.  I'll look into that.
