I had a double laminectomy last week and finally home. Unfortunately still in a lot of pain. The surgeon says i'll Be in pain for a while. He also says he won't do the 3rd surgery on my back. He says my back will be worse if he fused 5 to 6 of my lumbar spine. As he put it I have more mileage then tread on my spine. Hoping to get some fishing done before fall.

I've been through three surgeries. The biggest advice I have is to get moving as soon as possible, no matter how it hurts... After my last surgery it took about 10 days but I could walk without someone watching me and walk I did, I walked and walked and walked. Soon I could do a squat with the help of a counter. PT will be your friend brother, muscle stretching and strength are all you need, your spine just gives it all something to work around ~bb

Hope it works out for you as you hoped it would.

If I understand correctly, that type of Back Surgery cut the lobe off of the disc that was protruding onto your nerve. Make sure you follow your Drs Orders and the recovery for each type of surgery can be different. You wouldn't want to make things worse by doing something wrong.

Thank you Deadeye, That is exactly what the surgeon did twice. He said due to the length of time that i've Been in pain and severity of the damage i'm Going to feel it for a while. Am walking every hr. A little farther every time.

I know of several folks that have had a very successful life after having that type of procedure.

My SIL had it done years ago and didn't listen to his Dr and pushed to hard. His disc ruptured at the point where the lobe was cut off. The wall is now thinner there than it was. He still is dealing with it and that was several years ago.

That is why I say Listen to Your Dr as each person is an individual case and only your trusted Dr knows what is best for you.

Heal Quickly my friend and get back to life.
