Figured I'd go ahead and write up a fishing report. I mentioned this in the BS'n thread.

Last week I went out and caught a few small males in some grass, fishing from the bank. Not sure of the water temps, but it was around 65ish air temp I believe.
Here's one of them. I caught three, each about a foot long, but it was a struggle unhooking two of them and I had them out of the water longer than I wanted so I released them without a pic.

Right after, the temps started hitting mid 80's, especially Friday and Saturday. I had a pretty good idea what was going on.
So I went out again Sunday. It was a little chilly and overcast, but nice and calm. The day started out rainy.

The area I caught the males was 2'-4' deep, grassy, with rocky, sandy mud bottom. Crawfish shells on the bank, bugs and beetles everywhere.

Just beyond the taller clumps of green grass the water started going deeper, sloping down to approximately 10' deep, maybe much more out closer to the middle of the lake.

So Sunday, I started out tossing t-rigged watermelon ribbon tail power bait worms, 6" I believe, on the far side of the green clumps then tugging them through and letting them fall into the holes between the grasses. Caught 4 nice females.
Switched to a Gene Larew (not sure of the spelling) black/red flake lizard, either 8 or 10 inches, and REALLY riled up the last, and biggest fish.

They each ranged from approximately 15" to 18 or 19".
Folks, I believe the spawn is on at Darbonne.

And just for the heck of it, here's a little 10" or so dink I caught in the old quarry I like to fish, because it shows the worm I was using too. One of my favorite spots to take my UL, it's a rare occasion that I don't get at least one or two dinks. The biggest I've caught there was approximately 13" or so. They're a blast with my UL.

Once again thanks for the report and glad you finale catching some fish bigger than them dinks.  ~roflmao ~roflmao
