Has anyone done this ?

I just sold off my BPS 5.4.1 as I dont crankbait that much. However. I am considering using one of my curado 70. Just prefer small profile - using 10 lbs line.

Haven't done it myself but it would really limit your reel to cranking. Maybe some slow rolling spinnerbait work too.

As far as will it work, definitely. I'm not sure what the line capacity is, so if you're doing long casting you might run short on line. Not that you'll spool it when casting, but if the spool gets down to half full, your ability to take up line on a smaller spool is really hampered. Just food for thought.

Should hold plenty of line. Im sure it would be close to 100yds, which is plenty.

I agree LMG it will hold plenty of line, my person concern would be in IPT the reel was capable of taking up after a long cast. Just my opinion a 200 series reel would be better for cranking. Of course it totally depends on what kind of cranking as well.

Just called tackle trap and inquired about the IPT on the 5.5.1
He said that it's 26 Inch Per Turn.

So even at full swing and a low spool, you might be down to 22-23IPT. Still pretty workable. Go for it.
