May be a long shot in asking because I can't remember exact size/model of either. Both are older models, I think the reel is two generations previous to the current one, can't remember exact model/sub model. The Duckett rod seemed kind of old but pretty nice, yellow rod, steel line guides with no inserts.
Only got a chance to basically take a glance and the pawn shop was closing. They're asking $150 for the combo. Reel seemed to be in great working order but had plenty of boat rash, no damage to the rod that I could see.

Can anyone guess whether or not that's even a reasonable deal based on such little info? If I get a chance, I may be able to get more info Monday, may be able to drive over there on my lunch break.

Sorry I can't help with your question. I've never used Duckett rods and my last experience with a Chronarch was back in about 2002.  :P

Seems this is my day to learn a few new things though. I didn't even know Duckett ever made a yellow rod.

no way I would pay $150 for a used combo

I've never seen a yellow Duckett.. I think the rod may be one of the Carrot sticks that had his name on them before he started his own company. If so it's at least 10 years old, maybe more.
I don't remember exacty when he started Duckett fishing.
That Chronarch is a nice reel but it's not worth what they are asking, I would think the 2 are worth maybe
75 bucks.....

Was it naturally yellow? I've heard the Ducket rods turn a yellow color but they should be white.
Skeet Reese has yellow rods.

Seemed naturally yellow to me.

The reel looks like this one, in similar condition, this one's listed as a 100SF? Buy it now price is $150, high bid at the moment is $55.

If I can talk them into selling the reel separate, what might y'all reckon would be a good price for the reel?

Again, I know that's a crappy little amount of info, and I will try to get by there tomorrow for more info and maybe a pic or two.

Sandman7925

I wouldn't pay anywhere near $150.

Chronarch 100SF is one of the best reels to this date. I have the JDM version. In that condition, maybe $60-80

My wife says she is gonna leave me if I go fishing one more time........lord how I will miss that woman.

SFL BassHunter

I'd rather get a new reel for that price.

Yeah, true. Hard to beat that you could get a Daiwa Fuego CT for like $70

Pawnshops - They got it for like 1/5 of the price and jacked the price to sell.

Heck, I trust the forum board's more than the pawnshop ..

Called them a few minutes ago, they said they won't sell the reel separate.

Cbburke, pawn shops just operate on the basic premises of capitalism, buy low, sell high, make profit.
I can't fault them for that. I've also pawned a few things here and there for quick cash then paid off the pawn to get my stuff back. Not a cost effective thing to do, but sometimes it's an only choice. Like if your stranded somewhere late in the evening, your crappy bank flagged your debit card as possibly stolen because you had the audacity to leave town without telling them, you have no cash, you need gas to get home, and all you've got of value is a shotgun in the trunk of your car.
Plus, I've gotten great deals at pawn shops. Connie's ring cost around $200, then it appraised at $1,800.
