I need to find mine but I used to have a nylon rope that had a snap-on hook for the u-bolt on the front keel.  I had cut a length of rope that could stay on my boat all day when fishing and it was cut short enough to not come close to the prop on the engine.  I fell over board once while on my trolling motor and I had my flotation device off as the motor was not running... the wind was blowing the boat away from me almost, almost as fast as I could tread water/dog paddle to grab a hold of otherwise it could have gone real wrong. Once in a while it would get into my trolling motor but it was an easy fix.  Just a thought for clumsy guys like me.

The boat is floating away but the rope drags behind giving you and additional X amount of feet of rope to grab (depending on length of boat)  Make sure to put knots along the rope to grab and move closer.
PS: I'm sure this will take a lot of MPH away while running on plane... And I just happened to never have it snag on anything while running (fingers crossed) but that could possibly happen.  ~sweat
