Considering the fact that I am the best fisherman I have ever known at getting hung up on rocks, trees, underwater trees, invisible trees, sticks, roots of trees, and well anything else I could get hung on up...yes I use cheaper lures for my bank fishing. I almost exclusively use lead bullet weights and never bring out the tungsten unless I've run out of the lead.

Treble baits are the worst ones. Those get hung up everywhere.

You need to carry a chainsaw as a lure retriever!!! ~roflmao ~roflmao I've considered it!! lo lo

I've gone swimming, more than once, to get a bait back. If i'm fishing water I would never go into, I use cheap stuff.

Now that's an idea!

BassinLou you mind if I take a chainsaw on the boat next time we go fishing? Not much space in the back for it so it will have to go on your front deck. Lol

You cannot imagine how true you are Rodney. Rick is a master of finding trees even when there aren't any around.

True story.... Rick and I were fishing Lake Okeechobee once, and we were fishing an expansive flat with 0 tree's in sight. As we were fishing Rick sets the hook on what appeared to be a fish. Then he tells me he thinks he's hung up. I troll over to the spot and when I follow the line to the source of the hang up, I kid you not it was a submerged tree!! Lmao!!

SteelHorseCowboy

I use anything I've got, but I'm far more careful with all of it when I'm on the bank. If I know there's snags under the surface, I'm less likely to use my more expensive cranks when on the bank.

I remember that one and let me just say, there was a fish there! I remember it pull...musta exposed my hook, houdini trick on the submerge tree and got away leaving me hung on the tree.

I do mostly bank fishing at local pond after work. For me, I would like to fish with pricier rod & reel and cheaper lures when bank fishing.
You can feel the difference between a well-built rod/reel and the cheap one, how much easier it is to cast and how much more sensitive the rod is. The higher quality is worth it.
But what fishes care about is the performance instead of how expensive the lures are. The topwater popping frog that has caught me a lot of bass, 5 different shapes came from a tackle box only cost me 10$ on amazon. ~gf
