Good point! But we are not allowed to include source references or I get yelled at and told to remove it before someone else does...

That's fine however there will still be consistencies within my question. In other words, by asking I can receive a generally consistent answer based off experience that will allow me to evaluate a starting point for my needs.

Probably you need a reel with the BEST price.  ;D

The new Daiwa Tatula sv is pretty darn good also. The sv105 is better if you can get a deal.

Don't have one within reason.

Something with a small spool, stick with shimano 50's or a daiwa. Also need the right rod to throw very finesse baits with a baitcaster set up. I have 2 core 51mg7, aldebaron51, curadoi71, and a pixy type R, I like them all, if you want to spend $ get the aldebaron or a comparable daiwa, if your on somewhat of a budget get the curado I or get lucky and find a core50/51 used cheap. So much of finesse casting with a baitcasting reel is about the spool and bearings that nearly all stock reels can easily be outdone with the purchase of aftermarket parts.   When you add this to the equation really what you end up with is picking a reel that gives you a form factor that you enjoy, a braking system that works with your casting style and has a good selection of upgradeable aftermarket parts.

The Daiwa Pixy was the undisputed king of finesse reels for quite some time, in my opinion largely due to the unavailability of quality aftermarket bearings and the fact that aftermarket parts for reels were very tough to source.  Once the JDM markets became available and reliable enough to attract the masses it changed things.

I say all this to make the point that nothing you can buy stock will be comparable to what you will be able to custom build.   If building and tuning are not your thing, then thee are some good stock finesse platforms as already mentioned on the market.

Keep in mind as already mentioned that BFS is system, a combination of rod reel and line, and each must compliment the other.   It is a slippery slope once you start down this path, one that will often leave you shaking your head about why that 300-400 rod  and 400 dollar reel that you assembled just do not play well together.

I have played this game, spent a bunch of money and found 1 thing that rings resoundingly true in my head.   It is hard to beat and much cheaper in the long run to just use a good lightweight spinning setup.

Best of Luck, if you decide you are interested in custom built setups, let me know I  have a few that I would part with.
