Since it started about rod storage I thought I would include my fishing rod areas.  When we moved into this house I had a whole lot of stuff that I needed to get off the floor.  I decided to put in some overhead storage for a bunch of it.  Here is the first one I put in which has some of my saltwater and surf rods in it;

I needed more so I built another that has some saltwater and my spinning rods in it:

Then I didn't have enough room for my baitcasters so I added some more storage.  This time I got it from Cabela's and it holds 11 rods, perfect.  So here is that:

My old storage is on the wall and they came from Berkley I believe.  I use the far one to store my Grandson's rods and some I need to decide to repair or toss.  The closer one has some fly rods and other stuff on it.
What you don't see is the pile in the corner that I also have to figure out what to do with.  Oh well, all my usual rods are ready to go.

That would do it. Good thinking!

lo   Our cat is exactly the same. Totally destroyed my power recliner chair and most of the doorways in our old apartment. We even bought her a scratching post and she scratches everything but that damn post. She does like to lay her head on the base like a pillow when she takes a nap though.  ~b~

I have a cat that started doing the same thing.  The wife got these cardboard scratchers that work great and the cats left the furniture for the cardboard.  The key to success is the cat nip sprinkled in the cardboard scratchier once a week.  The cats are now in love with the thing.  A lot cheaper then new furniture.

After 45 years of marriage I took the mirrors off the ceiling, and replaced with a rod rack.   No more counting sheep, its now counting rods.

Thanks big g. Unfortunately our cat is allergic to catnip. Funny thing is now that we are in a new apartment she has not scratched any of the doorways or walls, but she was scratching the hell out of our sofa. My wife has been spraying it down every couple of days with an air freshener that the cat doesn't seem to like the smell of and so far that seems to be working. Keeping our fingers crossed.

get that old dresser out of the attic,or buy one at a yard sale and add $15 of berkely or other rod holders and you have an inexpensive and space saving place for your gear

Do you have anything in the drawers?

That was one of the genius things about using the dresser! :-*

You will be amazed at all the stuff you get.  I won the Bass Tournament thing a year or so ago.  After taking out all the things I thought I would use, I had a huge pile of baits left, so gave most of them to people who could and would use them and couldn't afford to buy them.
There are Veteran's Retirement Homes and similar organizations who are always in need of fishing baits!
Congratulations!  I will mail my baits asap.
