Hey guys I'm new to this form. And I was thinking about buying 16in plastic snakes just for the hell of it and I was wondering if y'all have any idea on how to rig it up. Like Texas rig or on a jig or what?

First off welcome to Ultimate Bass and you don't hear of to may folks fishing with them big 16" snakes but I guess they should work. Maybe someone on here will have an idea for you.

T rig it with a 6/0 EWG hook. No weight. Just pop it and get it to walk and sliver. They are pretty good for big bass down here in the right areas.
My wife says she is gonna leave me if I go fishing one more time........lord how I will miss that woman.

Big snakes is a pattern on Truman Lake in Missouri. Lots of stand up trees in the lake. Texas rig with a 1/8-1/4 oz. pegged sinker. You slowly swim the worm through the trees. Occasionally hit the line with your finger to make it jump a little. Usually a vicious strike comes when you hit the trunk or let it hang on a limb. I've found it a very fun way to fish. It is a good pattern for those big Florida bass. Doug Hannon made a lure he called "snake bait".

Warning: 14-18 inch worms are VERY expensive.

I would do what LMG said and I would probably run a second stinger hook towards the back as well if it didn't effect the baits action.

I use them up here in North country. I would agree with this, but I also sometimes put a 1/8 oz. bullet weight at the front. It will help it get down a little if you want to drop it into holes in grass or pads etc.  :-*

First welcome to the UltimateBass Family we're glad you're here  ~c~

Now then like the guys have already mentioned Texas Rigged weightless; Texas Rigged with slip sinker pegged or not pegged.  You can also rig it on a Standup jig head or Shaky head and crawl it along the bottom also.  There's lots of ways to rig them up and for the most part it just depends on where you're fishing.

I've never fished one that long before.  Most of mine have been 12inches or so.  My first experience using this method was on Truman Lake back in 1994.  We fished them the exact way Wizard mentioned in the standing timber and off wing dams.

Good luck it is a fun way to catch them.

The biggest I fish is 10 inch, simple "T" rig and slowly drag or swim it on or near the bottom.

I think the biggest I've used was 14" but it was trolled for Striped Bass, not cast. Otherwise, I've used the Zoom Monsters, and T rigged them on a 8/0 hook.

The big ribbon tail worms I've trolled for Stripers were rigged on a jig head, and occasionally a LM would grab it. Either type of bass has no problem engulfing a worm & jig head that size.
