To my mind the single best tip you will ever get for practice or just hobby fishing is experiment, experiment, experiment. Won't win me the tips contest but if you really want to know what a bait is capable of then find your favorite area is that holds fish and EXPERIMENT. Experiment with retrieves. Experiment with different types of and sizes of line. Experiment with different rod and reel combos. Experiment with different depths and types of cover. EXPERIMENT! EXPERIMENT! EXPERIMENT!

Rodney this is an awesome tip and something I try to do all the time. Experiment, modify and experiment some more. There are a ton of things we can do to tune, change the action or color of a bait, many times it will draw a few extra strikes
