My brother and I pushed out from the boat load at Maquan Pond at approximately 7:45am. It was a little cool this morning, about 60 degrees and sunny. Per usual, I stuck with my usual setup which is plastic worms on a shank worm hook. We started off by fishing the weeds and tall grass directly to the left of the boat load. On my second cast of a day, I pulled in this monster which weighed approximately 4.9lbs.

We continued to troll along the shore in a clockwise fashion from the boat load. We primarily fished the tall grass and weeds. About 30 minutes later, I hooked another small mouth bass that was hiding in the lily pads near the cove on in the southeastern corner of the pond.

Essentially it was the same method for the rest of the day. It was a bit crowded at the pond this weekend due to the "free" fishing weekend in MA. I caught another good size large mouth bass in the cove directly north of the boat ramp. I had to fight with him in the thick weeds for a big, but I was able to pull him in. I wish I had weighed this guy, he was pretty close in size to the 4.8lb large mouth.

I grabbed two more fish during the trip which lasted approximately 3.5hrs. Unfortunately, my brother was skunked that day and did not pull in a single fish. He had at least four on the line and managed to lose them in the weeds.  Anyway, here's a picture of one of the other two fish I caught. The second one was just a baby so I didn't bother taking a picture of it.

That was a pretty successful trip!  ~c~

Have you fished Monponsett pond? It's right down that way and has some decent bass. Give it a go sometime. It can get busy on the weekends though.

It definitely was, it made up for my slow day at Nutting Lake on 6/5! haha! Yeah I've fished Monponsett pond as long time ago as a kid. I grew up in Whitman MA, and moved up to the Merrimack Valley about 9 years ago. My brother still lives in Whitman, so I fish the ponds/lakes on the South Shore of MA quite frequently with him in his Coleman Crawdad. I'll have to convince him to make a trip over to Monponsett next time!

Great fish guys!   Have you hit indian head?   This time of year, every pad edge and pond inlet held 4lb+ fish,  one of my best days on the water ever wash 4th July 5 years ago on that water.

Thanks for the heads up mauro. It's been a lot of years since I fished Indian head but it was good fishing last I was there.
