Hey guys yesterday on the lake I ran into some trouble with my trolling motor. To start with the trolling would not shut off when stowing, the blades would start to spin again with the speed control off. Second when turning left the motor would kick into high gear all on its own. It eventually killed my battery that normally lasts a week. The trolling motor in question is the Minnesota edge 45 it's just a year old

problem solved there was a wire rubbed though on the speed control switch that would make contact when rocking the foot petal back to stow or turn left

Lipripper

That would do it and glad you found the problem.

Thank you for the follow up. That was a weird one, a shorted control wire was about you best diagnosis. And since it was effected by the foot control, it was a good place to start. Great job!

Good find, it beats taking it to service center, the nearest to me is an hour and a half. Congrats. ~c~
