I am now an owner of a bass boat and I am loving it. I just purchased a 2006 Nitro 482 SC with a 115 HP Mercury Optimax on the back. I am still learning things about the boat and one very crucial thing I need to know is how to fill the oil reservoir tank? Also what kind of oil should be used? Any and all help is welcomed.

Thanks! Bill

Welcome aboard Bill!  ~c~

It's a practice of mine to find out from the previous owner what they used. Not that I will always continue using what they used but at least I'll know. I'm not a Merc man but I'd guess they used a TCW3 (synthetic blend 2-cycle oil) outboard oil. I believe the Mercury has a small oil reservoir under the cowling of the engine in addition to a oil tank in the battery/bilge area. Just remove the cap from the tank and fill her up. Don't overfill. Same on the reservoir under the cowling. -Jim

Congrats on the new ride!

I would fill it with a funnel, if you can get one down to it. May have to have a long snout on it.

For oil, I usually buy Quicksilver Brand. They have specific oils for Carburetor motors, fuel injected, etc...
