Any of you guys use an aftermarket noise/vibration reducer on your trolling motor?  I'm trying to decide if something like the G-force eliminator is worth it.  I've also read that the bowjax thing works pretty good.  So I'm not only trying to decide if its worth it, I'm trying to decide what to get if I do.

Not sure I how I missed this Hoop! I don't use any of the noise reduction stuff but here's my .02 on the noise reduction.

Best way to reduce the noise is reduce the speed.

Anything that REALLY mutes noise that's emitted from the trolling motor and transmitted through the water is probably worthwhile.

The G-Force Eliminator prop nut functions as a harmonic balancer which probably helps at higher motor speeds. When you're fighting wind or currents. I'd probably own one if I fished more tournaments. But at $50 I'll save that money for a new quieter Fortrex.

The Bowjax looks like it functions the same as there silencers for hunting bows. They're cheap enough. They might help but, they look like weed collectors.

The only one I know anything about is the prop nut. All the shallow water pro's are using them. And my take on that is, they are not paid to use them so there is a belief that it works. I don't have one myself but the theory is sound IMO. It's to pricy for me at the moment.

The biggest thing for me is to keep the speed down and constant. I'll use a very slow speed and turn the constant button on. At very slow speeds you don't have to fear running into things while fighting a fish. But it can cause turmoil if you need to kick the speed up to get to a hung fish. Once to the fish or while approaching you have to click the constant off.

I think the starting and stopping spooks the majority of shy fish, more so than the motor. I've trolled past many fish that never move. But let off the button and they bolt.
