I only get to fish when I golf, so I need something really compact that I can hide in my bag or under my towel, and can easily use it without much assembly. I first tried and still have an eagle claw telescoping rod that was about $15 and I've caught 5lb bass off of it. So i like it but feel like there are better options. I also tried the emmrod, solid, but terrible casting distance. I recently got this 4-piece rod. Build well but also pretty crummy casting distance for some reason (is it too long)? Also hard to put together quickly.

Do you guys recommend any telescoping rods or 3 or 4 piece that are good for 5-6lb bass and good quality with good distance? So far the best one is the $15 eagle claw honestly.

Your gonna need to get a travel rod that is rated a MH F if you planning on pulling some good sized bass. 2,3,4 pc, it don't matter, as long as it's strong enough. As far as the reel, if you can use a baitcaster they are more compact than a spinning reel.
My wife says she is gonna leave me if I go fishing one more time........lord how I will miss that woman.

I bought a collapsing rod from a company called Banggood.com.  They have warehouses in both the US and China, and man do they have a selection of collapsars.

Here is the link to my review of the one I bought, it is definitely too long for your needs, but they have shorter ones on their website.  http://www.ultimatebass.com/bass-fishing-forum/index.php?topic=125673.msg1362796#msg1362796

I throw a lot of one and two ounce weights, and when I got it I thought the tip was a little floppy for casting them, but amazingly enough it tosses them quite well.  It is almost parabolic in power, the heavier the fish the more it bends.  I have brought in some 12, 14 inch saltwater species with it so far with no problems.  That is also open water which makes a difference too.

Aliexpress.com is another distributer of Sea Knight products which is an American brand that is mostly made in China.

That is exactly the same rod on amazon here

I thought about it, looks great but a lot of the reviews seem fake and so I thought it might be a dud product. Sounds like it isn't, I'll give it a shot!

Just make sure you don't do like I did and miscalculate on the length.  I originally was looking for one about 9 feet, and ended up with over 11 because I guessed at the conversion instead of actually doing the math.

When you pick it up it will feel heavy because of all the aluminium fittings, add the right reel and it balances out beautifully.  I would suspect that a shorter rod will balance with a pretty small reel, maybe a 1000 or 2000, add some 20lb or less braid and you have one heck of a setup for general fishing.

haha, yeah on amazon it actually says the feet as well as meters.  i went with the 5.9 foot version.  the next one up is a foot longer at almost 7ft, and that's just too conspicuous on a golf course.  the 4 piece 6.5ft one from bass pro i have right now is a little too much also.

i have a pfluger president reel with 30lb braid.  i'm looking forward to getting this rod, and amazon prime will deliver it tomorrow for free!  thanks for your help!

Good Luck, let us know how it went.  The wife just got Amazon Prime, and we are getting a lot of stuff through there, mostly maintenance stuff, although we just got a lawn mower shipped.
