Looking for suggestions on what line to use on the Dobyns 735 and Lews Tournament Lite I just got.
On hand I have some 30lb braid, 12 lb mono, 12lb floro and 12 lb p-line. I will be using the set up for jigs mostly and probably some frogs. The water I typically fish is very clear so I was thinking if I used the braid I might want a floro leader. I am not limited to those lines, that's just what I already have.
What do you all think?

For jigs I like all the feel I can get, so I would go with the braid.  Where I fish the water isn't very clear so I wouldn't even worry about the leader.

I would go 30 lb minimum on the Lews. Lighter braids can dig in pretty quick and are tough to get out. Can't speak to the dobyns but would like to try one one day. If fish some clear lakes and I use a flouro leader as well. Hope this helps. Cheers. J.

Spool the braid, use a leader of fluoro if needed.
My wife says she is gonna leave me if I go fishing one more time........lord how I will miss that woman.

Jigs and frogs = definitely braid. If the waters that clear and you're afraid it's hurting your jig bite us a leader.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm going to take everyone's advice and try the braid. I will probably try some 50lb though. I didn't really like the 30lb as it did dig in and I got some nasty tangles with it.

That 735 you have there is a jig/frog rod.

Braid is fine in the higher lb weight. As Cork said, if you feel the straight braid is hurting the bit, add a leader. I would say the lighter the better for gin clear water....just match it to the conditions you have.

You might be able to get away with 12-16lb if you arent around any real rough stuff...weeds, tules, rocks etc.
