I have about $3000, what are my options? Pferox, I'm hoping you know something about this.

What kind of waters will you be fishing?  Will you be able to pay slip fees, or do you have someplace to park a boat, or store a canoe/kayak?
You've got a lot of options...
Hobie Mirage Kayak
Pretty much any other kayak, with money left to customize....same for a canoe.
Research Gheenoes...a great little canoe like boat, but much more stable.
A used wave runner, and some PVC to make some rod holders  (I've been out 30 miles offshore in one, fishing oil rigs).
Somebody's project boat their wife finally got tired of.
A used skiff....an old Boston Whaler or Carolina Skiff with a 5 to 25 hp motor, for around $3000 is possible.
Yes, that is a gator in my profile picture, but I was trying to catch a bass, so it counts!
One 3ft long, 10 pound "Largemouth" for me.

Sorry, Dude, I really don't, especially for your neck of the woods.  Around here there are a few different types of boats to look at because of the types of water.  But up in the North Atlantic, I haven't a clue.  A Kayak maybe?????
