Good point by H8R, good business to not forget the past and current owners while looking at the future.

I think the savvy made a fine moving bait rod just like the champ and I use them as such. I use DXs for contact stuff but it would be nice to have a sensetive blank at a lesser price.

I guess the point is, the Savvy is pretty underwhelming and then to release a rod that by some accounts will be better for LESS... That has savvy owners scratching their heads and maybe even feeling slighted .. Now, I could see it if the savvy was updated in some way... But I don't see how these two rods can sell side by side if comparisons are accurate.

The Savvy line could get updated as well. Who knows. It takes a lot of work to design a rod from the ground up. These are not your standard, grab a blank and slap some guides on it type of builds. Anyone who has used a Dobyns know they put plenty of thought into the design and action of the specific models.

I own rods in every line, and they each have their place. Do I think the Savvy is a dead blank...not by any means. Im more concerned with the balance and actions and if they perform the task needed for that given design. But, the Savvy is not a Champ or a DX either.

Ive used other brand rods that were not appealing to me because the action, taper and overall function was very off for that specific intended action. That, to me....is what a rod is about. Fit, form and function. Materials used to achieve that is secondary and should only enhance those three qualities I look for.

I have 3 DX's, I find them to be pretty good. I had a champ which was ok, but too heavy and blank not crisp enough for my liking. The savvy, I had for about 2 weeks... It just didn't do it for me when tallying up the features+performance + price. The fury sounds like it gives more for the money

I might have to agree with you on the Fury vs Savvy comparison. I am anxious to see how the market responds...and then how Gary responds to that. We could see an updated version of the Savvy, who knows.

I have quite a few champs, mostly crankbait models. I absolutely love them.
