I just bought a Lews BB1 and plan on spooling it with #17 flouro. My question is would a 703c or 704c be a better "all around rod" ? I would be throwing around grass and other structure.I have a 13 Omen Black that is rated to 1 oz but is a MH.So that's my dilemma, I dont really want two of the same rod, know what I mean ?

Thank you
Sean

I have the 703C with a LEWS TTPRO. I use it more for my light plastic presentations. A 704 will give you a little bit more backbone for general applications imho.

With 17# line, you obviously aren't fishing with something that is light. I would go the 704. If you were using say 10-12# line, then maybe the 703.

Here is my two cents on this, doesn't matter what brand rod.

When I started out, the first rod I was told to get was a 7ft MH fast rod.  Then after that kind of figure out what will and won't work on that combo, then see what rigs you want to fish that doesn't work on that rod, and get the next rod that will fit those presentations, usually a Medium-Fast or Moderate Fast is the next rod.

Now you have expanded what you can fish with exponentially.  Just keep doing that until you have obtained all of the major powers, from there you can fine tune the tips for other presentations as needed.  Before long you will have 20 rods to cover just about anything out there, and be looking for more.   ;)

Can the 704c throw 3/8 and 1/2 oz jigs pretty good? I don't fish 3/4 often. Could you throw alot of other lures with the heavy rod?

For me a 1/2 jig means a 5 power rod but thats just personal preference. You should be fine with the 704

Yes. I throw them on a 704.

I use a684C for most of my TRigged plastics as that is what Mike Cork suggested.  I was at first hesitant but glad Zi did as the extra power helps me pull them through the weeds, grass, pads that are prevalent where I primarily fish.  I use the 704 as my frog Rod with 50 lb.  Power Pro.

Buy em all that way you don't have to worry :)
I have to agree with the 704. I'm a 4 power junkie though lol.

The 4 power rod is a great all around rod. It will handle the 3/8 to 1/2 ounce just fine. Whether a spinnerbait or a jig, you'll have plenty of casting range and accuracy along with the power to move fish towards you.

Since you have the heavier model in a different brand just make sure not to over load the 4 power Savvy. If you're throwing a 1/2 or better jig into some really nasty cover, it might be to much for it. It will handle it but if you tie into a monster bass, you'll wish you had a little more power.

For all around fishing the 4 powers across the Dobyns line up are fantastic.
