I have some friends who take their sailing kayaks out to the rigs off Matagorda.  They have often talked about how much of a pain it is because they have to park so far away to launch their kayaks because of all the private property.  Hopefully this can give them a closer area to launch out of.

This is a government run deal, and from what I have seen, it will take quite a long time to get public access going on it, hopefully in my lifetime.

When it does open up, and they do it right, it will be a fantastic place for the outdoorsman of any interest, and will definitely open up new possibilities of access to Matagorda's waters.
