I'm working on a trip down to Louisiana to catch some reds, I hope  ;D

Anybody know if they are still up shallow?  Hope so, sure saves on the gas bill  ~rant

They are moving now, been getting a few reports about some good catches.  Lot of bulls being caught as well.

Now until spring is the time of year that all the drum species like to get hooked up on my little Bayou and bay complex around here.

BTW, did you know that the Speckled Sea Trout is not a trout, but actually in the drum family?

What you planning on using for bait that way?

Have you ever tried Redfish Magic?  I have thrown them a bit, but never had much luck, although many people around here swear by them.

Gulp Alive works well too, I use the 3 inch shrimp in either pearl white or new penny.  My buddy swears by Chicken on a chain, but it never worked well for me.  You can substitute your live shrimp for the gulp, or use a 1/4 to 1/2 ounce jig head instead of a hook.

I haven't had too much opportunity around here, but the few times I tried, I got hit but no hookups yet.  Take one of Bo's Jigs and and use a gulp trailer,  bounce it in and out and around the edge of the grass line along the side of it, like you would do bass fishing.

I have seen huge reds hiding in holes in the grass waiting for something to zip past them, they will almost hit it as a reaction bite.  Another positive is if the Flounder are still hanging around, they will take it too.  They like non grassy bottoms, but do hang near grass edges waiting for bait fish to jump out of the weeds.
