One bottle is more than enough.  I have done over 20 rods, most of them full handles, and still have half of a bottle left.
You only want to put a single coat on the cork, let it soak in and you are ready to go.

If you guys arent covering your cork...no matter the brand or grade of cork, you need to be using cork sealer. The filler can come out from general use. The Savvy is A grade cork.  I always cover my grips regardless.

Grades of cork go from A to AAAA. The higher the grade, the more expensive. Cork in general has gone down hill in quality. It doesnt have much to do with the rod company, its the production of it in far off lands. AAAA grade cork is what is found on high end fly rods. Dobyns uses AAA on the Extreme rods. You can see the difference in fillers between the lines.

I seal everything.
Great tip Mike!

I use a very fine sandpaper to remove dirt and grime. Then compressed air to remove the dust followed by a damp cloth for final wipe. After it's fully dry I apply a heavy coat of U-40 being sure to not have any runs.

Got my U40 in the mail today. Gonna go home and clean the cork handles then seal the cork.
My wife says she is gonna leave me if I go fishing one more time........lord how I will miss that woman.

Good deal. Remember a little goes a long way with that.

Damn that stuff is thin. I thought it was gonna be a thicker liquid. Anyway, I coated the cork, and I see why you say that the one bottle will last a loooong time. Rods dried over night, and they came out great. Thanks for the advice guys.

Awesome! I think you can double coat if you want.

LgMouthGambler

I thought about that, but on the bottle it says do not use a second coat because it wont sink in. ???
