I have this really stupid question but yesterday I was fishing with my baitcaster and was messing with the centrifugal brakes when all the sudden 2 of the pins in the brakes fell into the water for some strange reason. :-\ Will this effect anything? ~b~

First never a stupid question....

When you say pins are you talking about the actual pin that the brake sleeve rides on? Or just the brake a sleeve. If it's the pins, you might have a crack in the brake carrier.

Bottom line is, if the two missing pieces are opposite of each other, the reel will be fine. If they are next to each other, there will be a weight imbalance. This imbalance may not be anything you notice with light casting or pitching, but with hard or long casts you will feel a vibration and have more frequent back lashes.

Note, if it's just the sleeves missing... They are super cheap and any reel mech will probably give them to you. If it's the pins, then something is broke in the spool and it will likely need replaced. Spools aren't cheap.

No stupid questions here.....what kind of reel do you have?

I have a h20 mettle. I'm not very impressed with this reel so ill be buying another reel with a magnetic brake some time soon. And Mike thanks for the advice. The pins were not opposite so I moved the pin to a place where they were opposite. Helped me a lot.

I haven't seen the style brakes on the specific reel, but it sounds like the tab has fallen off the breaks. They are replaceable, ProReel may be able to help you with getting some more. Might shoot him a PM.
