I have the 704cb and I love it. I want something longer with a little more backbone for throwing med divers. 6-10ft

Didn't know if I should go 765 or the randy cranking stick. Also not sure whether to go glass or regular.

No input but following. I would like to know the consensus on "glass or regular"

My wife says she is gonna leave me if I go fishing one more time........lord how I will miss that woman.

I personally do not like the glass versions , to me it deadens the feel of the rod if that makes sense ?  Some guys swear by em but it's just not for me. That being said the 705cb , 765cb non glass versions are perfect CB rods IMO ! I tend to throw 5XD range CB's on the 705cb and the 6XD range on the 765cb anything less (Shallower) like the DUO M65, Bomber 7A's I use the 704cb or 684cb. Never tried the RMCB rod so not sure but iirc it's a 7'9" 5 power ?
The first time I threw a 5XD on the 705cb I thought to myself "This rod is made for this CB " can't emphasize how much I enjoy my Dobyns CB rods !
   Edit;
    I use the Lews BB1 in a 5.1:1 ratio on most of my CB rods but have been meaning to try my 7.1:1 BB1's on them too just to see how they would work out , thinking maybe getting to depth with the faster retrieve and then slowing down some and seeing how I like them but haven't yet. I have been told braid would offset some of the deadened feel of a glass rod but I can't bring myself to use braid on my CB rods so I dunno but makes sense. As Steve said below you can really whip a crank with the 765, allows for farther casts and getting your crank to depth easier at your target area a long ways from the boat . I can really sling them with the Lews reels also though so whichever rod you choose go with a reel you know can get the job done.

 I have the 765cb graphite and love it. It is very sensitive and casts a crank a long ways. I have used it with all different size cranks and it works great. It also makes a good spinnerbait rod. I have it with a Tatula 5.4 and like it for slow rolling spinnerbaits. It's balance doesn't make it seem like a 7'6" rod when you use it. It feels light and agile.

The 764 RM is a great mid depth crank rod. Its also a great trap rod.

I throw a 765 glass for my mid divers, 10-16' stuff. I like the glass blend to absorb whatever I am banging into, and not bury hooks into stuff. Also allows fish to take the bait a little better. I do use FC with this as well. I throw a 705 graphite and a 705glass. Dont get the mfglass if you look that way...it is very whippy.

I throw some 3/8 size cranks on the 705 graphite, but have to be careful on that lighter cranks...if any wind catching them or they tumble a little I can get some backlash. I do run 12lb Sniper on that to help in the overall setup. A 4 power would be ideal I think. 704 or 764RM. I throw a lot of warts on this rod, and use it in the spring for big 10' jerkbaits. Most of my shallow square bills are on the 705 glass.

Right now Im throwing 5xd, 6xd, fat poppa 70 and dd22 on the 765 glass. Love the setup for all those. Typically run 16lb Sniper on that because I beat on all sorts of junks and 12lb just gets too beat up with those bigger billed cranks.

I use the glass rods when around wood or rock to not bury hooks in snags as easy. Very rarely lose a fish and typically have better hookups than with the graphite sticks. Thats just me though. I do use a graphite rod around grass though, they do rip much easier with that stick.

I think the 764 is a great way to go for what you want to do with the rod. It has some versatility. If you starting throwing deeper than about 10' or bigger cranks, I would be looking at a 5 power.

Right now I have Lews BB1 Pros on my crank rods...tuned of course, but the Pro is a sick reel for casting purposes.

This pretty much sums it up! Good post!
