Going to be fishing Brookville Reservoir on the weekend on June 11-12th.  Never fished in Indiana before, but my brother has several times in the last month or so.  Anyone from Indiana fish this reservoir before?  Any suggestions on what to expect, what types of bait to use, and where any good cover is in the lake would be greatly appreciated.  Also, any suggestions on any other fisheries in the SouthEast Indiana would be helpful too.  Want to put my younger brother on some hawgs, he's pretty new to fishing and hasn't hooked into one yet.  He's caught several white bass near the "darn" in the reservoir, but no black bass yet...

get in touch with wareagle and Hoosier Angler or even Tackle Tester I believe one of them should be able to fill you in.

Creel limit Zero,

Brookville is about an hour and a half from me.  If the weather is nice boat traffic will be bad.  Lots of boats and jet skies.  It can be tuff over there most locals night fish on the weekends.  Red shad and Junebug are the colors I have heard they are biting on.  Carolina rigs and deep cranking will probably be the bite as it will be post spawn by then.  There is a lake about 45minutes to the north west of there that is hot. I think it starts with a G, but that is all I can remember.  I sure someone else will hook you up.

I have heard the boat traffic can be menacing on Brookville.  May not be true, but I also heard there is a nice stretch of no wake zone on the upper portion of the reservoir.  I think we'll be focusing on that area.  Also, plan to do most of our fishing from 4:00 AM - 9:00 AM, and 6:00 PM - midnight.  Hopefully there won't be too many recreational boaters on the water.

This one is right up my alley......I fish Bville 30-40 times a year.......

If you want smallies, throw tubes around the roadbed towards the dam...It's hard to explain exactly where it is, but it's really obvious....can't miss it......Largemouthm go back into the fingers and throw jigs undil you can throw  no more.....Stay towrds the dam....The other end is all catfish shallows and stuff.....There are a ton of shad in the lake......So many shad that finding shad does not mean you find fish....In fact, I have found that in the middle of the day, the  bass get away from the shad b/c they take up too much oxygen.....At night throw Rebel Pop-R's by the bank for stripers.

If you would like me to send you more info, I would be glad to but would not like to reveal the info to all the guests and stuff (I don't mind telling the members b/c i know they are c and r, but the guests worry me sometimes...lol)....It's just I do 50% of my fishing at Bville and don't want some fish hog to catch out  alll my good spots.

So if you want me to give you everything else i've got, just shoot me an email, and i'll get specific with patterns and spots for that time of

All I ask is that you give a report when you get back....lol

Catch em up

I hope I can help you out

Fished Brookville Reservoir on Monday, 06/13.  Fished it from 6:00 AM until 1:00 PM.  I was a little concerned with all the heavy rain/thunderstorms that Brookville area received on Sunday.  As I suspected, alot of the reservoir was very muddy.  There were however, some nice coves that were still pretty clear that weren't being fed by a river.  We focused on most of these in the early mornings when the sun was not a factor.  Between the three of us, we land about 12 LM and 3 SM.  Nothing extremely big, they were all in the 1-2.5 pound range.  Did get one that measured 20", and was maybe 3.5 pounds.  We caught all of our fish on 5" senkos, except one small mouth later in the day on a grub.

By around 10:00 AM, the  ~sun came out and was starting to heat up.  We decided to venture down one of the muddy coves and try our luck there.  We did have a few sporadic bites here and there, but didn't manage to land anything.  Tried alot of different things, but I believe Brookville is typically really clear.  I believe generally when fishing a large impoundment that is typically clear, generally the bite will get real slow when it gets muddy.  I think it may have to due with the bass getting accustomed to their normally clear surroundings, and they just wait out, rather than expending alot of energy.  We tried alot of things, top waters, buzz baits, crank baits with rattles, spinner baits, plastics with lots of scents.  Nothing seemed to work.  Around noon we went out of the muddy cove, and fished a rocky shore drop off for about an hour.  Got a couple more bites, and landed on SM bass on the grub.

All in all, it was a great day.  My younger brother landed his first LM bass, and he's hooked.   ~c~

Thanks to all that helped, especially Tackle Tester.  You went way beyond the call of duty with the help and maps you sent me.  We would've lost alot of time early in the morning trying to find some good spots, and may have lost most if not all of the good bite early in the morning...

Glad I could help, Creel.

That is actually a good bass day on Bville....Prolly would have won most tourneys.  It's a good walleye and striper lake, but the bass fishing leaves a lot to be desired....lol......It has it's days tho.

Anyway, glad to hear you had fun.

Creel Limit Zero

Well, it was helpful that there were almost no one on the lake since it was a Monday.  We are probably going to try and fish it again in a few months when I come back in town, but are thinking about targeting some walleye.

Thanks again Tackle, if you ever make your way out to MD, I'll to put you on some  ~fff like you did for me!
