Hit the water Saturday morning to break in the 150 four stroke.  I had me(265#), my brother in law(about 230#), 3/4 tank of fuel and a full tournament load.  Here is what I found:  I hit the key, and bam...started first time!!!!  Hole shot was a little slow to me.  I will try playing with the plugs in the prop to see if it helps.  Driving a 4500 rpm, you could have a conversation at almost normal tone.  I was able to go full throttle and hit 5800 rpm's and got 62 on GPS.  Didn't expect that much until it had some hours on the motor.  At that speed, you could still speak, but had to talk a little louder.  Still was more quiet that a two stroke.  It seems like this motor wants the higher rpm's, as it was smooth, smooth!!  This is on a 2013 Z-7.  All in all, I am impressed with the motor and boat.

Sounds like it's a winner for sure. I have always wondered about the 4 strokes and how they perform. I know at idle they are extremely quite, to the point you don't realize they are running. But I've never drove one so I don't know about the performance. Sounds like it's right on par with the 2 strokes though. Pushing that rig at 62 already is impressive to me. I'll be very interested to watch as you get it broke in and dialed in  ~c~

Forgot to mention that I drove the boat 50.3 miles according the the GPS and used barely more than a quarter of a tank of gas.  Now, keep in mind that most of the break in was at 4500 rpm's and below.

Buddy of mine has the same set up only his is a 2012 I think. And you're right they are very quiet & very smooth. Once broken in you should easily see 65mph.

How is it running now since you've had it for a month or so now. Really interested in how that 4-stroke does on the Z7.

Took it out two weekends now.  Still in the initial 10 hour break in, so I cant go full throttle more than five minutes at a time, but I rarely do anyways.  I'm happy as can be with it so far.  It has a decent hole shot, and has a lot of pep.  You can be running around 4K RPM's and when you pour the coal to it, it really responds great.  Motor really gets smooth and wants all you can give it.  IMO, it runs better the harder you run it.
