Legend guys I'm looking at these boats and keep noticing little things I like. They have now made my very short list of Skeeter or Legend. My biggest concern is the closest Legend dealer in 90 miles away. H&W in Bossier has impressed me with their service department several times fixing stuff while I waited. That said what do you guys do for warranty work? Also it's nice to just be able to swing by the dealer and pick up things that are actually OEM parts ie latches, lid assists, gauges, etc. Somebody should really pick these boats up around here...

BassBUFF

I agree, but bought one anyways! :))  Any Merc dealer can perform warranty work on the motor. I usually use Adam's Marine (Walt Adam's). He's certified and can do warranty work. As for anything on the boat, I've always just contacted our wonderful folks at the factory and they've always had any part I needed sent to me ASAP. I've never had a major issue where I had to get the boat itself into service. I haven't had an issue since the dealer in Monroe came on board. I've heard nothing but positive responses about them though.

Pull the trigger, you won't be disappointed! ;)

As BassBUFF said...

As far as the motor, any certified mechanic can work on it. As far as the boat. I don't expect you'll have issues with the boat it's self. If you did, a call to Legend and they will troubleshoot with you on the phone and send the part asap. If you're not comfortable changing the part, myself or bassBUFF can do it. Or you can call Robert in Monroe and he'll get you in and out very quickly.

The only problems I heard of are control panels and switches. They are all plug and play. So if you had an issue, they will get you the new part in a day or two and you can swap it out quickly.

If you need a test ride or want to simply crawl through one without any reservation give me a call.

I agree plenty of good outboard mechanics around town. I'm mostly interested in the Alpha 211 probably gonna have to be a 2011 model give or take a year.

I appreciate the offer Mike I might have to take you up on it in a month or so! I noticed some models have the one long starboard rod box and some have the split box with a smaller compartment in front of the console. Is this an option or a model year thing? Also, do they have some sort of tackle storage system for plano boxes? Thanks again.

To back up what Mike said, the Legend owners around here can fix just about anything.  As you see in the "on board charger" thread, many of them were eager to help me out with my issue.  Best part about that is, most of them work for beer and deer meat  ~beer~ ~beer~.  On a serious note, you won't regret buying a Legend...I sure haven't!

Meangreen

I've never had people I don't know offer to fix my boat! That says something :shocking: although i do think ive met Bass BUFF at a fruit jar on the river. Deer meat and beer ive got plenty of!

They're both great boats. Skeeter has made some big improvements lately IMO. ultimately it'll be whichever one I find the best deal on.

Meangreen....of the two boats that made your short list.....hands down Legend.   Family owned company and you become part of that family when you buy your boat....does not matter if you get new or used you will get the same support from the factory and area Legend owners.  I also believe that if you get the chance to crawl over each boat that you will quickly pick up on the quality and detail that Legend put into their boat that you will not find on a mass produced Skeeter.  I am not bashing the Skeeter...it is a fine boat but it just is not in the same league is the Legend.  I do not own either brand that is on your short list so this opinion is very unbiased.

Good luck in your hunt for your next bassin machine!!

Okay this gets a little tricky. There is a box at the very front, in front of the drivers side rod locker and to the left of the trolling motor recess. This is called a day box, it was and still is optional. The 2014 models now have a split rod rod locker on the drivers side. The rod locker is still big enough for rods but the back half of it is a compartment. That in reality is pretty large. Doesn't look like it until you start filling it LOL So 2013 and older could only have the forward day box and I think that only started late in 2011 so those year models may or may not depending on when made and if the purchaser wanted it. If you find a 2011 with the forward day box, you'll know it's a late in the year model.

On the 2014 models, the center box is a rod locker or storage, it has 8 or 10 rod rack in it. The passenger side rod locker also has a rod rack capable of 14 rods.

You know where to find me, so any time you're ready just holler.

Great information Mike! The only one I have called on had the day box, but it might have sold.  Realistically I'm 30-60 days out if everything goes well. I really do want to ride in one though. I'll call ya when im closer to making a decsion and I appreciate the offer.

Elwood - I hear what you're saying. One thing about a Skeeter is they are always in demand and have been around forever. It seems Legend is doing well and gaining traction, but ya never know. Of course there is a chance it could go the other way and everbody will want one in 5 yrs. Boat business is tough and marketing is critical. Big $ = more marketing whether it's BS or not. Legend may put out a slightly better product, but can they compete long term on service and quality? Time will tell and I'm probably willing to take that chance. Just sayin it is a concern.

I'm wiling to bet that Legend will be around for a loooooong time!!! I just bought a 2007 Pro Craft and couldn't afford to buy a Legend at this time but be assured that as soon as the pro craft and the wife's new Lexus are paid for (4 more years) I will be buying one!

laynboards

I just sold a 07 Legend Alpha 199 and the only reason I sold is because I am gonna order me a new one in about 3 years I owned it since 2009 and ABSOLUTELY loved everything about it !!! My son is being born in feb of 2014 and I decided I am gonna want a new one by the time he is old enough to start going with me at age 3-4 and so I felt like it was the best option to sell and wait an order me new one then !!!! You wont find a better boat and you definitely wont find a better customer service department and Boat family to be apart of !!!!!

Legend is new compared to the other manufactures like Ranger/Skeeter but I can assure you that their outlook is stronger now than it ever was. With their new factory, they have been able to meet the exponential growth demands of the boat, yet still keep the individuality and ownership that each member of the Legend Team has with their piece of the boat building puzzle. Each team member has amazing pride in their part of the boat. Take the factory tour and they will talk your ear off about their section, how it works, how they made it better, and so on.

You have to think that Legend hasn't been around for ten years yet. They are building more now than some of the other "well known" manufactures and it's not for the lot, it's for already sold boats.

Don't fret the Longevity of the brand. The boat it's self lasts and so will the company.  ;)
