I may have to beach the boat tomorrow and walk over the levee and check it out. Will be sure to carry a rod also, used to whack the bass pretty good over there!  :-*

Is that the only way to get to the back side of the spill way right there. I imagine you could go over to cypress and follow it back :-\

You can park at the Cypress Parks Rd launch and walk across the street and down to it.

That's private property...just saying.

The lake looked pretty full today, even before most of this rain.  Maybe they fixed the leak, or Mike stuck a finger in the hole.  In the dam!

Not real sure about that...we have always gone down there and when we park at the launch and walk across the street, the only thing we get in trouble for is not paying to park at the launch!  lo

StevenFlanagan and I were on BBB this evening.  Sylvania was everywhere.  Lets face it, the lakes here are ruined ~c~ ~c~ ~c~ ~c~ ~c~ ~c~ ~c~ ~c~

Bear with me, I'm telling you of any lake in the area, Black Bayou Benton will be just fine. Cypress was covered in the stuff two falls ago, by spring you couldn't find any. The rains will make it all better I promise. Just rest your wittle head on your pillow, it will all be better in the morning.

Now Hoston and Caddo might be in trouble. Hosston is moving a lot of it over the damn but there are acres of water that are out of the main flow of that lake and the stuff never leaves it, the wind can't push it out. I fear we have lost an amazing big fish factory there.

If you want to worry, just because it's in your nature, those two are in trouble.

That would be losing the two best big fish factories in the local area......pray for cold ass weather.  One good hard winter with a few weeks of freezing weather would do wonders for the lakes...

Guys I got to thinking about this and I don't want to give the wrong impression. I do totally believe that Black Bayou Benton will be fine. With a normal winter, water and temperatures, I think it will flush it's self and be fine. BUT that doesn't mean we as anglers should keep quiet about it. If you see this stuff anywhere it needs to be reported. We need to be vigilant, keep talking about it, we need to do our part as well. That means making sure we keep from transporting it.

There is enough influence and money living around Black Bayou Benton to make a difference. Land owners there could make the right calls and get some extra help in there. As anglers, when you come across the land owners on their docks, ask them about it. Ask them what they think, make sure they know how invasive it is. If the land owners get worried, they will start making calls!!! Make sure they know who to call!!!!

Same goes for Cypress.

It's getting pretty bad on Cross Lake in certain areas as well. Seems like you can't get away from the stuff...

Hosston is my first love. Haven't. been able to hunt my duck blind north of NoahTyson in years. :(
My heart is in the woods and on the water! My head; however, is used on a daily basis as a financial advisor. Please let me know if I can help in any way.

I don't know if it's the spraying, the water mower, or the recent cold spell...but Black Bayou is looking much better.  It's probably a combination of all three.  A month ago, I went out in my jon boat and you couldn't even see the water back on the West end.  I went back there today and was able to go all the way back through the channel.  This is 100% better than it was a month ago.  I know it's always going to be a problem, but I felt much better after poking around back there today.  Actually seeing the water back there completely made up for my bad fishing luck today.  Bring on the cold.

Wow yeah that looks a LOT better!! :-) Must have had some good water flow out out of that creek to push it towards the main body and over the dam.

the wind and high water pushed and scattered it out of the west end creek area.  It has not made its way under the bridge though so it can't float over the spillway

That looks MUCH better than the last time I was up that way! ;D
