After 2 trips this is my assessment of 198.  This boat handles great.  It is a very stable fishing platform with plenty of room.  No jackplate and 65 mph seems to be top speed at 5450 rpm. Still learning to drive boat.  Quality is top notch right there with  my former BassCat.  Wind does not seem to move boat like other boats I have owned.  Does not handle rough water well as I would like but I really do like the boat it is my favorite. Things I don't like about Ranger are seat bases hard to remove. No step pad at all on trailer to load boat at ramp.  BassCat has spoiled me.  I do not have pump out and Ranger hides livewell drain under a roller that makes it very difficult to fill bag after a long day.  Other than that no complaints  I have some pics on I phone could someone tell me how to download?     golfen

Yep, on your iPhone you can download the tapatalk app and upload directly from your camera roll. Can also use the photo bucket app to paste the URL to the post but is a little more involved on mobile. Glad to see you got it out on the water and breaking it in. I'd say that once you got used to your old boat this one is gonna take some time to get used to. If you have any problems with the pictures message me and I'll get you squared away. Pretty sure you can order the step directly from Ranger or your local dealer.  I need one also but just haven't taken the time to do it yet.

bdgolfen dont you have a 3 position switch alongside the drivers seat that will drain your livewell? I had a 185 vs that had one & it also handled rough water very well. I think once you get use to the boat it will be fine. I did not have a jack plate on that boat either but the motor was mounted in the 2nd or 3rd hole so it was up off the transom. It had a 150 merc on it & would do about the same. Bigwrench covered the step. I have never owned a Basscat so I can't compare. I have owned Rangers since 1974 & can say they are a quality boat an an excellent fishing platform. I doubt you will be sorry good luck with your boat.  :)

Spent three days in boat this weekend.  Got to say I have had most of major brands and they are all nice and would not bash any of them  but Ranger has the best  fishing platform.  My boat handles very well it is nimble.  Plenty of  room for a 19 ft boat.  While they are not the fastest boat on the water that's fine by me I don't like to run much above 65. One other observation is this boat is the easiest boat to load on a trailer that I have ever had. The deck and lids are very stable and no creaking and give when you step on them.  Yes I kept water in livewell I just did not have many fish in livewell. Hope to spend couple more days in boat this weekend.

~c~  Great to hear, next time out snap a few photo's of it on the lake, I love those shots. I am biased too and i agree Ranger has the best front deck. We buy boats to fish out of not race.
