Phenix M1 7'8"

Anyone use a m1 7'8" heavy or extra heavy for fishing jigs around 3/8 oz for flipping and fishing jigs n plastics deep. Looking for a all around rod for deep and shallow applications.

I'm not familiar with this line of rods so take what I got with a grain of salt in the water...

An extra heavy rod is going to wear you out fishing in deep water, its also not as sensitive as a heavy or medium heavy. If deep water is the only issue, and cover is not a major factor, look towards a medium heavy rod. It will be much lighter and more sensitive on a deep bite.

Medium heavy will handle up to a half ounce jig with no problem. I'm sure Phoenix has plenty in that power to choose from
