Only two I caught Saturday morning. You have to look close to see the dink. Momma smallie was 17 1/2" weighed in at 2.1 lbs. Yes I need to clean the livewells.... bad.

Pretty markings and color - I love the display when they are mad!  That's a nice one and I can see the baby underneath!

Bet fishing Claytor is fun!

Thanks, Claytor has always been a mixed experience for me. Smallies have come alive in the past month. I don't catch the numbers (SM or LM) that I used too but that's due in part to all of the rain and flooding that it brought with it. The bass have been a bit confused.

My only experience was just below the dam.  You can find some nice smallies there!  And musky's.  Just going to need a canoe or kayak.

I used to fish below the dam a lot before I went back to a glass boat. Indeed there are nice smallies and some awsome muskie in that water!

We'd fish from the Dam down to Peppers Ferry.  A great man who has passed, Al Pugh from Riversmallies,  used to hold the MOAR (Mother of all Rodeo's) just up stream.  Good times and the fishing was outstanding.  Bless his soul.  I miss that big WV Hillbilly!  Beer, Bluegrass, and Bass Fishing.  It doesn't get any better.  So I don't have a bunch of time there -  enough to say I know the place.

Someday - I'd like to fish it again.  Theres a ledge just before the take out before the Peppers Ferry Bridge at a bend in the river.  I remember that set of rapids were class 3+ and tricky! But we came out dry on the bottom !

We need to all get together on Claytor then soon !

Maybe next spring?  Like a "field of dreams"  build it and they will come!

I'd show just to hear some banjo pickin around a camp fire.

Sounds like a plan :). I'll practice up my duelin Banjers !
