Any of you southern LA guys want to get us updated on the fishing before the LA BASS Federation tournament next Month.....how's the fishing been and where to go?

Chris I heard they are catching some good stringers there right now. I don't know a whole lot about the place but I'm sure someone will chime in.

It's been a while since I fished the Spillway(Atchafalaya Basin), haven't been back since hurricane Andrew. Yeah, it's been a while...  ;D If anybody from these parts decides to fish it, I would advise on getting a map & keeping track of where you're at when you're out there. It is very easy to get lost in the Basin, there are many canals & run outs, you can get disoriented before you know it. I can tell you all that water color & pH is key when fishing down there. I remember fishing back there with my uncle out of a 14' X 36" Duracraft & wearing them out. We would gauge our fishing trips on how much of an ice chest we had caught, 90% of the time it was 75-100% full of a few bass & lots of monster perch. It was nothing to go out with basically nothing but ultra-light gear for white perch & brim and catch everything across the board. There is nothing more fun than catching a 3 to 5 lb. bass or channel cat on a ultralight. The only thing close to that now is when we go down to Venice or Delacroix & hammer down on some monster reds.
