Just saw these two products and immediately thought of marine applications. The rustoleum kit starts at 19.99 which is pretty affordable.

Awesome stuff

There was a post on BBC about a 2 step hydrophobic process similar to the Rust Oleum one. But it was like 300$ for a quart of it.

I believe it was the same product, but Rustoleum bought them out. Not sure though.
