Two Foot Rollers No Problem

Fishing Lake Okeechobee was an awesome adventure but one of the things that will stick with me for a long while is coming in after a day of fishing with Two Foot Rollers to battle.

We ran out of moonshine bay which is sheltered from the main lake after a long hot day of fishing. A breeze had kicked up with the sun setting and there was a little chop on the water as we left. What we didn't know was that there was that there were two foot rollers on the main lake.

At first we took it easy, new boat and all we didn't know quite how she was going to handle the water. It didn't take long to find out. Mike decided to try it out and we took off across the lake. With the rollers heading toward us at an angle we did get a little wet but the boat never even hesitated. The ride was better than I would have expected under those conditions and she got us in without one lick of trouble

Ok so how fast were you running in them 2 footers?  I know you have a great boat and she looks as if she can fly but compaired to your old boat were you more/less comfortable?  How were you driving, trimmed up down in the middle that boat will take corners like none I have ever seen riding with Mike and on the lake during motor brake-in we had some windy days but I know it wasn't trimmed out yet due to the motor not being ready to handle WOT so I thought I'd ask how it was now that your good to go.

Glad to hear you guys have fallin' in love with your new boat.  Yours and Mike N.'s sure are beautiful boats.  Now that you've tested them out in 2 foot rollers, how's about bringing it up this way and we'll step up the waves a little.  Lake Erie can get nesty in a blink.

When isn't Erie Nasty lol.  Was out there last year for the EverStart out of Clevland.  Don't think I have ever fished Erie in anything under 4 footers.  Glad to hear your loving the Legend.  Hope the boat continues to treat you guys right.

Fogy, as Laurie said we were still playing with it at first but we had almost 7 hours on the motor and the book only calls for 4 so we decided to see what she could do.

The best running in those waves was about 4000 RPM with about 1/3 trim, seemed to keep the nose up just enough to prevent getting wet but kept enough boat in the water to keep the ride smooth. We were running between 50-55 mph. In a 20 minute run I only had one time where I didn't handle the cross action right and we came out of the water a bit. Our old boat was good in larger waves as well but it would rattle your teeth a little bit, this one being a foot longer really stretched the waves well

Boy that is some good news    The more I hear the more I like and the rides I've had so far only make me  can't wait to get in and open it up

I ran with them for a while.  Since this is my home lake...I take rollers as though I'm ocean running. Both our boats handle rough water well. From experience I keep it around 3900 and run around 40 mph or less.  The reason I take it so slow is to minimize stress on the hull and transom.  The best built boats will develop stress cracks if they're pounded continually.  With that said....I saw first hand how a Legend handles
