Hello! This is my first post here, found this place while searching for info on the trackers!

I currently have priced the 75HP otpimax with a 70lb thrust 24v maxxum TM and I am adding a humminbird 798 SI fish finder to it.

Where is a good spot to mount a fish finder to the bow? That its not in the way of anything? Will be using a RAM mount. I know most will say put this fish finder at the console, but Im thinking i want it on the bow since i will be able to learn it more up there while fishing. Maybe im wrong though? That or is there an easy quick release mount? that i could move it to the front and back and hope i dont drop it in the lake! hehe

If money was no option I'd just get two and solve that problem ha!

So maybe i'll save up and add another one for Christmas or get a bigger one.

Thank you!

The tracker guys will have to help you out with mounting and they'll be around shortly.

But I just wanted to offer that the RAM mounts have a variety of quickly release options that could work for you.

When it comes to location that's going to be a little different for everyone. But things to think about are how and where you cast, a lot of anglers pitch baits and I know when I use a boat that has a ram mounted unit on the front I hit it a lot with my baits. If you don't pitch this won't be an issue.

Im pretty sure this is the one or very similar to the one they said would work with my 798.

Well I'm thinking i might want to learn or have a try at pitch'n, never say never sort of thing you know! hehe

I just want to make sure i dont ask it to be mounted in the wrong spot and then hate myself later for putting it there.

This link to a post i made late last year may help you out with bow mounting location.

I wanted to do exactly what you are talking about: 1 unit 2 mounting locations and move the one unit from console to bow as needed. It will work with some additional parts from Humminbird but i choose to just get 2 units.

Oh man thank you! Glad you have that pic on the finder on the bow, i was wondering how that would look if i choose to have it mounted up there, I am really leaning towards putting in the spot now.

I may just leave the stock finder where it is, and look to add one at a later date. I still want my premium on the bow cause i feel i would learn it better since thats where most of my fishing will be done, i just hate not to have that sweet Side Imaging while trolling for a good spot.

Time to add something to my Birthday list a 2nd fish finder!

If I may make an observation. While looking to make a strategy for your day fishing you'll be behind the wheel looking for how the fish are oriented on structure and what kind of cover they are using. Once that is done you will step up onto the deck and start fishing. At that point you will be spending most of your timew atching your line and an occasional look-see at your depth and to see if you are still on your desired spot.

For that reason I'd suggest having the most advanced and thorough imaging done for the driver's seat.
Just my opinion.

Have you mounted the unit yet? If it were my boat I'd find a way of mounting it on the floor toward the right corner, out of the way, I can still see it and I'm not going to smack it with a 3/4 ounce jig when I pitch. Easy project if you mount a recess for the foot control.

Mines mounted on the floor, using the mount that came with it.
