I swore I'd never pay that much for a kayak but my son has become interested and the more I get into it the more I realize I may actually spring for one a little better than my Field & Stream yak. Just wondering if anyone has any personal, not I heard, experience with Jackson Kayaks. Looking at the Cuda 12 & 14.

I have the Jackson Cuda.  I had the coosa before that but sold it to get the cuda.  It is a great kayak.  Very stable to stand.  Tons of storage, fast and tracks really well.  The coosa was just a little to loose for the type of fishing I do.  They do cost alot but the comfort, ability to stand, the storage capabilities make it worth it to me.  I have the 14 fter, but the 12 ft seems for ideal for a general all around boat.

I have to agree with bassark and I have a cuda14 also,  you won't be disappointed.

That's my dilemma really-12 or 14. I'm 6' and 210 lbs so I'm sure the 12 is fine when it comes to that but I might want a little extra room for storage.

you might want to try a Jackson TUNA.

What kind of fishing do you do? Lakes rivers creeks?. The coosa can't be beat for running the creeks and rivers. The Cuda 14 is faster on flat water. The Cuda 12 is a mix of the two, better in creeks and rivers than the 14 but not as good as the Coosa. Adversely the Cuda 12 is better on flat water than the Coosa but not as good as the Cuda 14. The Big Tuna would be a good boat if you plan on two people fishing. You can also fish solo from it. I have a Coosa and love it. The only bad thing about the Coosa is if you fish lakes the wind will blow it around a little more because of the hull design. Get with your local Jackson dealer and try to demo some of the kayaks and see what you like.

There are no rivers or creeks local to me worth fishing so I only fish smaller lakes. I have a cheaper kayak that ill give to my son to use so ill be solo in whatever I buy. May consider other transport options down the road but for now it'll ride in the bed of my truck so I don't know if the 14 would be too much or not. Wouldn't think it would be a huge deal. The closest dealer to me is a little over 4 hours away with nowhere to demo the boat so I'm not sure what I can do there. Appreciate the help.

If you're fishing mostly smaller lakes, the cuda 12 would be perfect.  It'll fit a little easier in the truck bed, a little easier to store, but will still be plenty fast enough. I think its has to be Jackson's perfect "all around" boat.  You won't be disappointed.

I agree I think the 12 would work great for you!
