Yeah, I wish I had gotten her in the boat but I guess that's fishing for you! Crankbaits are bad about losing fish anyways so I guess the only way I can try and fix it is to change the hooks haha.

HD, you are testament to the ability of these baits to attract big fish.  I just got three of them in the mail and now that I have read this thread, I am not at all certain I have any rod capable of handling this bait.  That means of course the bait monkey is starting to bite and I am going to have to spring for a heavy swim bait rod.

Try re-hooking these baits with the KVD Mustad Triple Grip short shank in size 2/0.  You will greatly increase your hook-up rate with these trebles.  I change out all my trebles on new baits to these hooks as soon as I get them.  It's quick and easy if you employ KVD's hook-change-out method.  Apologies if this has been posted here before.

Some people say doing the same thing over and over again, all the while expecting a different result is the definition of insanity.  I just call it fishing.

Can probably go with the 1/0 since the bait is so big.  Might as well get as much hook as you can on that giant bait. lol

I put the 2 mustad triple grips on right after I lost that second fish. I had meant to do it after I lost the first fish but my partner hooked up on a fish so I got side tracked getting the net to get his fish in the boat and neglected to do so. Looking back now, I am still kicking myself about not changing those hooks and missing out on that big fish. I'm just glad I wasn't fishing for money.
